    Hi Guys,

Finally got round to calling this bust from MMM finished , pleased with the way its come out particularly with the chest medals/crosses and the epaulettes ...a lot of prep was needed before any painting was done....see WIP thread:

    http://www.planetfigure.com/threads/papa-ringel-from-mmm.65237/watch-confirm

Acrylics from me on this one (of course..might try oils on the next for the flesh:eek:...only might:whistle: )

Reworked the ribbons as on the WIP thread ...much swearing at times , nameplate from Name it

Kevin do you ever paint anything without a ton of fruit salad on his chest? I like decorations too...hence busts. I agree with your approach to adding the crossed swords etc. Looks great.

Decent job on a ropey cast Kev. Would maybe benefit from a few more highlights on the beard and hair?

I do NOT recommend it all Nap!
From personal experience, I wanted to start on oil painting and being afraid of standard oils and bought a set of those Cobra oils, the result: Used them just once (but maybe there are better brands now),
So I went for normal oils and after a few attempts and some basic tips and a ffew advices from some fellow planeteers) I now use them quite a lot. Not only for fleshtones but also for doing some final effects over standard acriclis such as exra shadowing, tinting or mutting colors. Even are useful to soften rough transitions on layered painting on acrilics. So don't be afraid!

    Cheers!

Thanks for the comments , interesting as ŵell , I have the cobra and find them ok to use ...must try them more though! ...if I bought "proper" oils they would only end up sitting in a draw or go to my mate Jimbo !

    Thanks for looking in
