after the Stresa storm a new project could start...

The 4th hussar charge at Friedland 1807, A beautiful painting by Edouard Detaille is really inspiring

I love that painting!!!! This will be a figure I can really sink my teeth into.
The "flying" horse looks great! I assume you will disguise the pins with long grass on the ground work.
I will be following this latest project very carefully.

This will be brilliant Ivo. I don't think I have seen this famous painting rendered as a miniature before.

thanks for the kind words until today but we are really far from a good progress

the horse is a result of a long cut and glue, has been shorted a couple of mm compared with the historex standard.

man is an assmebly of metal modeles parts, the pelisse comes from Manhes kit, legs from hussar mounted

head is an old Andrea Hussar head with the shako converted to have it taller

Ivo...one minor observation. Based on the frontal photo above, you don't seem to have the torso slightly bent forward as much as the painting. I think this is required to ad to the illusion of a charge at speed.

Man head comes from the hussars kit of andrea miniatures, now with the fur collar is a bit 'better.

The shako is a model for officer higher than the standard, it was perhaps more usual mid-empire while here we are in 1807

lift it cost me a lot of work but in the end the effect is nice. The chinstrap is a copper wire twisted around a thin metal core, and crushed

Great work. I always enjoy watching your pieces develope.
As mentioned, make sure the hussar really "leans" into the charge... to match the extreme action of the horse and give the whole thing a very dynamic feeling.

I will be following with notebook in hand ;)

the shoulder begins to rise, a little 'putty to raise the joint.

I also did the saddle cloth... enjoy it ... it's broken and I'll completely redo it later

    Ivo,
Excellent so far. I know the feeling about the broken saddle cloth., very fragile! I found if I mix A&B with Duro, it doesn't brake as easy.
    Looking forward to your progress.

    Best Regards,

As request by many of you the rider has been repositioned changing the angle of the knees

    [IMG] [IMG]

in the same picture I start to made the Chasse-mouche that were made with thin lead wire of 0.2 mm

lead has been preferred to copper because more flexible

Excellent! Just a little echange in angle makes the rider look more dynamic!
