Hi Guys
Fresh back from Ingolstadt with lots of new ideas, this is the start of what is going to be my 75mm
Napoleonic collection .
This is a fantastic sculpt from the Pegaso range which i'm sure you have all seen before the detail is superb and a pleasure to paint .
There are some tricky bits to do re assembly and painting the trumpet and banner ,still not sure how I'm gonna tackle this yet.
Re the pics ; well the digi camera has done it's worst at washing out the colour contrasts as usual

There is one thing I will not do again that is ever attach a figure to a base before painting

Looking very nice Mr T. That colour combination is always a bitch to get right in terms of contrast, looks like you have pulled it off nicely tho

Don't tell me.......you forgot to cover the base in masking tape......ooopsie!

Re base ,its just to awkward to get into tight spots painting the figure on it .

Thought I would do an SBS on that 'Scale 75' bust (Abyssal Warlord) as it fits well into using the airbrush. Which is what I have been doing since I took a break.
Wanted to get back to airbrushing for a long time. Also, I am enjoying myself again
That, and there is no better place to come, for opinions and advice.

I have always liked this very elegant figure but for us mere painting mortals, it is (IMHO) amongst the hardest of Napoleonic uniforms to get "right" without looking garish or more akin to a clown's outfit that a uniform. Ron, yours however looks tremendous and you have handled the colours and contrasts really well. I look forward to seeing the end result.

Very nice red interpretations Ron, looks like deep crimson, cad. red and scarlet for the S-B-H tones ?

Cad red base colour, Lights ; crimson scarlet not a cheap paint but lasts forever, top lights cad orange ,shadows brown madder.

Gary I think the garish problem is not the reds in this uniform but the golds as there is so much of it ,my attempt was also going this way before I toned down all the gold on the uniform and am happy with it now ,before that it was heading for the also ran pile

Wholy crap Ron? I love it!!
The most complicated part of painting the figure is painting the banner and tassels.
I've paint one from le cimier many years ago, and it was 180mm.
I cannot imagine painting those details on this scale but i am sure you will give us another great painted gem as usual

I don't fear the banner ! just putting it altogether is going to be tricky as it needs to be painted ,attached to the arm and hand before being attached to the figure

It is still on my to do list....but haven't never bought the figure
