    Hi to all,
my little conversion of two miniatures of the "Metal Modeles" .. I'm turning them in an Officer and in a gunner of the 7th Regiment of the line "Royal African", Kingdom of Naples. All the parts that I have added are from the "Historex."
The 7th "Royal African" was made up largely of black men, officers included. In addition, since 1813, Murat decided to introduce in each line infantry regiment of two companies of artillery.
    I hope you enjoy it.

Well done Andrea, if my memory is good, only one figure of this regiment was commercialy produced, and Officer by Mike BLANK in his own range.
After 2 or 3 figures were made, 2 also by Mike.
    History:
As the 7th Neapolitan Infantry Regiment was recruited mostly from Negroes, its exotic appearance was conspicuous among the Neapolitan army units and made a lasting impression on such contempories as the renowned Sergeant Bourgogne and the creators of the Freiberger Bilderhandschrift and the Elsaessischer Bilderhandschrift.
In 1803, Negroes and mulattos who had immigrated to France from the West Indies and Saint-Domingue were grouped together as a battalion designated the Pionniers noirs. When the Kingdom of Naples was established in 1806, our “black pioneers”, entered into the service of the new state on 14 August, and in addition were increased to regimental strength. Whether additional Negroes were recruited for this purpose or the ranks were completed using white men is uncertain.
Because of the high casualty rates later on, there was probably also not enough time to recruit a sufficient number of Negroes. In any case, the majority of the regiment’s officer cadre was white, though in due course black NCOs were also promoted to officer level.
Until 1810, the regiment was officially designated Royal Africain and was listed as Number 7 in the table of infantry regiments. The Royal Africans served under Napoleon until 1814, in which the regiment was disbanded.

Dig back far enough (1976 or 1977) and there was a 75mm size figure of a Grenadier Officer of this regiment by Julian Benassi for Hinchliffe Models.

    Bravo
Great conversion and paintjob. Final display with the cannon wheel is fantastic.
Question: Do you use acrylics and if so, what are your mixes for this flesh tone? I always struggle with this:(

Excellent work, nice tones for the faces and lovely painting of the officer's uniform, I always struggle with whites.

Amazing work Andrea, this conversion and painting is admirable.
I've always enjoy your stuff especially because is not the very well known and traditional Napoleonic uniforms.
As for the mixes for black skin if you allow me, i use a simple recipe in acrylics:
Base color, prince August color creme brulee(you could find the same on vallejo)
Highlights, i add beige brown to the base color i. Little increments until almost pure beige brown.
As for the shadows i use burnt umber with a little bit of black.
    I hope it helps.
