Hello Ron, Great blending, and use of your oil colors. The leather jacket looks very realistic. Glad to here you were able to uncover this figure after so many years, it is one of the better ones from Verlinden. Best of luck the rest of the way, will follow. Regards, SG:)(y)(y)

    Hi Saruxaxa
There is a an earlier thread on this figure "old verlinden where I explain how to do the leather . "undercoat with Tamya wooden deck tan with air brush aqnd allow to dry overnight, apply burnt umber oils in this case and start to lift off with a dry fresh filbert type brush ,when this gets saturated with oil change to a fresh brush ,keep working like this till the undercoat stars to shine thru ,believe it or not makeup brushes work really well with this technique also " although I must stress i don't have any :)

You can undercoat with humbrols also ,some of the light kaki colours work well , also you can use Raw umber oils as the finishing coat

Really nice tones! Both in the leather, which is really reality like, and the trousers also.
    Very very good!

Mighty fine work on the oils Ron. Very smooth and clean. I never managed this whenever I tried oils.

I have some old Verlinden ones in the grey army and some of them are pretty good. I wonder who sculpted this one? It always is a mystery with Verlinden it seems.

    Cheers

Adrian Re oils , choose an undercoat as close to the colour you wish to achieve and an no absorbent palette I use oven grease proof paper.

I know some people prefer card to dry the oil out but for me it causes the paint to drag and you end up with far to much thick paint which can even cause little ridges of paint.
Plenty of fresh brushes to lift off as much as you can ,this is not the same as the technique for the leather you are just leaving a fine skim of paint on, go in with your highlights and shades but don't drag the paint into one another just feather it in , work in small areas at a time as your paint is now evaporating .

This should smooth thins out a bit Adrian

    Love the paintwork Ron! (y)

As Adrian quoted, its a clean, smooth job - I would be extremely pleased to achieve that standard of workmanship :joyful:

Lovely work Ron. I use that method for leather too. Never seems to look as good as yours though mate. Very nice trousers too. Have you started the face yet?

Hello Ron, If this is the one your thinking of, I agree with you. The hands were a bit to large though. Regards, SG 199698-13434-23.jpg

Used the leather technique on Andrea's Falkar figure today...very pleased with the results. Thanks Ron.

On a side note, am I the only one who thinks he has his boots on the wrong feet in the first photo. The other photos look fine but the first one looks like he got dressed in the dark. Maybe just a trick of the light ;)

    Looking good anyway Ron :)

Had a good hard look at his boots as i am working on the figure at this moment ,it is difficult to tell  but I think the position of the out turned left gives this impression ,
maybe he has two left feet:D:rolleyes:

Glad the technique worked for you , its a bit tricky at the first go . remember you can always go over the deep creases a second time after it has all dried which will give more depth.
