Hi all,

Its been quite a while since my last posting so I present to you a diorama in 1/16 scale titled "interrogation".
This little vignette is composed of three figures, a german officer (Fort Royal review) , a german soldier (JSM) and a doughboy (Kirin).
It is not finished completely yet, the figures still need some work and they are fixed temporarily on the base for photo purposes.
I would appreciate any advice/criticism on any aspect.
Hope you will like the finished diorama.

Thank you Steve, its true what you are saying about the pictures .I will use the regular camera with micro lens for the final photo shooting.
I will definitely modify the positions of the figures and of course the direction of their heads.
I know that it is not visible in these pictures but the figures are 50% painted.............

At the risk of "piling on"...I totally agree with Jason. If you are telling a story, you have to set the scene.

You might consider moving the figures a bit closer together. Maybe the German that is now on the left might look better behind and to the right of the interrogator with the pistol. Kinda looking over the interrogator's shoulder at the prisoner. Like he's getting ready to whisper something to the interrogator. I'm guessing that the fella with the pistol is the interrogator, right?

All suggestions and purely for your consideration.

This is going to be a really nice scene! I like your lavishly messy trench!

Great job so far - what paints are you using and what colors?
I am trying to salvage a WWI soldier with no paint guide and looking at the photos on Google have me confused as to what color to use. Looks like the Humbrol Field Gray is too dark.

I am using Andrea field grey ,(from the field grey set) and I also use oils over acrylics for washes and very intense wear.As you see I am "weathering" a lot the uniforms but try to find the Schiffer books on WW1 Germans ,you will find everything there.

Michael - This question about what is the "correct" color for Great War uniforms comes up often. The process of standardizing uniform colors during this period left a lot to be desired. Dye used to color cloth was obtained from a combination of vegetables and chemicals. There were many other reasons for lack of standard colors. For example, most officers did not wear issue or contractor made uniforms; they used their own private tailors.

Some feldgrau color examples. The group of officer feldrocks are probably all from private tailors.

Michael I agree with what Dan said, try not to stick with one colour from a company (Humbrol,Andrea, Vallejo etc.).These uniforms were varying in color very often for various reasons.
So Humbrol field grey might not be the choice for direct application but you can modify it according to the desired shade.I rarely use paints straight from the bottle simply, because they are not what I m looking for.
I use the Andrea sets for convenience but I never finish with them.

This is great and I thank you both. Your comments confirm my belief that being in the right color 'group' is as good as it gets. That is where I am, so I am good to go on this figure.
