it's an interesting drawing for some specific characteristics that I would like to maintain in the figure I’m going to built

I always like red uniforms.

as always I started from the horse, is a MM conversion, the head comes also from MM range but moulded in resin and the neck has been rebuilt using milliput "terracotta"


the saddle is quite strange so long but I maintain this characteristic to follow the source.
Due to the particular shape I preferred to make the flying part in lead copper instead of the usual putty. I welded the parts to the horse and later I tinned the copper

after the arm one of the most characteristc part is the pelisse, I could use the Metal Modeles pelisse and leave it on the shoulder without modification but I seemed to betray the spirit of the painting ... then a little 'cut and sew became necessary

the pelisse was dismembered by keeping only the braids, then was glued into place



after gluing i started to resculpt it

While I’m completely awed by the extent of the modifications, I feel that the pose of the upper body doesn’t quite follow the painting. The head doesn’t seem to be sighting along the pistol (perhaps the head should be lowered a little to the front), the right shoulder should be thrust forward (so the whole upper body should be swivelled right, really) and the grip on the pistol looks a bit loose.

I hope you will not see this as a criticism but as an attempt to improve what undoubtedly will be a superb figure.

I always accept suggestion and critics. They are always positive and gave me a different point of view.
At this stage the head isn't fixed yet and will move but consider that this guy don't fire a we do today.
For the arm I preferred a rigid pose, shoulder don't move, to maintain some rigidity in the movement

I used an Historex shako for our guy, i filled it with putty to fix the plume



I used Procreate putty to make the details on the cartidge belt, I bought it in Long Island from John Jeffreys. It's a plastic putty similar to Duro and very good for small details



also the hair were done with the same putty

Fabulous conversion but I’m still not convinced by the “gangsta-stylie” grip on the pistol. To me, this is its only drawback.
