As we are now approaching xmas I thought id have a go at something I've had on my mind for a while now and thought it may be appropriate for this time of year.
Ive always loved the pegaso 200mm French napoleonic Hussar bust and the idea of portraying it from a winter setting,my sculpting skills are very limited to small challenges so it was always going to be a case of buying a suitable piece and just doing some extras.
Anything I've ever done before has always been completed with Milliput, this time I decided to try the product Magic Sculpt which is a 2 part putty consisting of Hardener and Resin which I acquired from Matt Grech at ElGreco Miniatures,i found the putty easier to work with than Milliput as it dosent seem so sticky as the Milliput.
For this project I wanted to add a wound bandage together with head cover to protect from the cold and a moustache with some small amount of hair sticking out from under the headcover, following this I added a cape cover which I added tears and holes to but with some of the pelisee still showing through,on top of the cloak ive added what I want to show is part of a ripped French flag.
I would be very grateful for some coments / criticism / guidance anyone would like to give regarding the sculpted items, its a subject that ive always admired but just not confident enough to take advantage of before, ive added some photos from different angles for reference.

Many thanks to Matt for his advice on Magic Sculpt and my Good Friend Gary Higgins from my local club for his advice and support.

The product is available from Matt and Celine at www.elgrecominiatures.co.uk

    Superb work Brian!!!
If you didn't mention that this is the Pegaso Hussar bust I would have searched in every brand for this figure.
It's a perfect transformation in every aspect. I'm very delighted with your work. Now I just want to see it done ;)
    Good Luck!!

Can't see anything wrong with that. Awesome transformation. Can't wait to see him in paint. And you are so correct about Magic Sculpt.

    Brian ,

Nice one , certainly a really nice job particularly like the bandage and the ragged flag providing a tiny bit more protection against the harsh Russian winter

It will look really good painted up

Looking forward to seeing more on this one

    Hi Brian,

I love your conversion. It really captures that forlorn and desperate image of the French army in retreat across the steppes.

I can't wait to see what it looks like once you've got your brushes and paints on it.
