    Hey all
This is a continuation of the previous thread "Cuirassier Officer, 1813", that followed the Cuirassier's horse. In this thread, I'll be taking on the Cuirassier himself.

The pics are randomly taken as I go. Some aspects are done while others are in various states of progress. Face, breeches and coat are done. Helmet and cuirass ruff are in progress.

    Thanx guys
I should have said from the start it is a Metal Modeles 54mm. It's a nice sculpt, well cast... if I had any complaints it would be that the face is kinda plain and some of the details like piping, buttons and eppaulettes are a bit shallow... not bad just a bit more challenging for me to paint.
Seems like 95% of Nappy figs have either red or dark blue on them somewhere. I've foung a blue mix that I'm getting quite comfortable with... Finally. Blue is a difficult colour to work sometimes.
Perdo, your right about the yellow, the camera doesn't help but I do need to do another shade pass over it to tone it down and get some more definition.

Thanx for the comments guys. I'll be getting back on the bench as soon as I get some food in me :D

You do that Colin, the yellow pops out on that uniform, so you want to get the right tone ;)
And your quite right about the Napoleonic figures....Blue and Red in almost every figure.
In fact to avoid that I gonna paint my Pegaso Captain Hussar with the 5th regiment colors:
light blue and white, but there is yet some reds... Maybe the figure doesn't pop out much, but
it's just to be different from the usual colors. What do you think??

There are so many colour combos on Hussar uniforms...

Run "French Hussars" through Google, there are 1000's pics. I'll look through my Rouselotte's book and scan some pages for you if you want.

Yes I know Colin, fortunately the kit comes with the color schemes of 12 regiments.
But I think I'm gonna attempt the 5th. Not only because never saw any kit of this painted that
way and to be a little different, also don't want to paint the greens ones... don't like much of the combinations,
and because the 5th is one of the best regiments of hussars in the Napoleonic wars... Also tought of the 2nd, but
I'm a little afraid of the brown jacket and pelisse...

It was good to include a reference like that... Maybe you could scan it and share... hint hint ;)
Me personally, I like the 3rd Hussars uniform... love that grey with black fur and red piping. But that's just me

Just taking a break from doing some more work on this guy. Mostly on the Minerva style helet... the metals are done (except the chinscales and bottom trim), the horsehair, turban, tuft and plume are only basecoated. The ruff is done and I fiddled with the yellows a bit... I think they're at a good tone. Slightly darker in person.
    IMGP0465.jpg IMGP0466.jpg IMGP0467.jpg IMGP0468.jpg IMGP0469.jpg IMGP0470.jpg IMGP0471.jpg IMGP0472.jpg IMGP0473.jpg
Getting to the short strokes... cuirass, gauntlets, boots and sword/scabbard, then on the horse and get at the base.
Back at it after some rehab exercises and a snack ;)
    Cheers

There is a review here of the kit, and the member scanned that info.
    Here: http://thepewterbrigade.blogspot.be/2013/04/captain-of-hussars-elite-company-1806.html
Yes the 3rd is unusual, but I'm going for a dapple grey horse, so it would be very dull. There is a member
here that painted that way and it's great:

    Done for the night.
Steel cuirass is done... Based Natural steel, washed Badab Black, highlighted edges and rivets Silver, light drybrush of silver and finally overpaint with Sargent Silver (finer metallic grind). Belly belt and shoulderstrap ends based with Dark Red. Boots based with German Grey with a tough of English Uniform.

It is looking very nice indeed! All is coming together nicely.
The cuirass is very well done, I like to see this type of armour
a little dirty, not like it's brand new.
