I couldn't help but emulate the excellent way that Robert Ramirez displayed this great sculpt from Carl Reid.

I picked up a very nice base from Ron Tamburrini. I added to the base with apoxy sculpt. I needed to make a small repair to the bayonet and added lead foil straps for the canteen,(not pictured) Its now primed and ready to go. Hopefully I can do it some justice.

Nice! Very nice! One of my favorites! I'll follow with great interest!

Can you comment on the casting, the fit of the parts and the clean up on this kit?

The casting is first rate. I had no trouble cleaning it up. One of the things I look for in casting quality is if I have to really look hard to find the seams and I did here. The fit is also top shelf. I pinned the head and the rifle to paint separately, as with the canteen. The few challenges so far was when I added the apoxy to the base. I had to dry fit his right foot through the apoxy, then the base to get a good fit. I pinned this too for added strength. I did that when the apoxy was still pliable. The bayonet was bent out of the box and the only way I could fix it was to add a piece of styrene. It also lengthened it a bit as I thought it was just a tad short. It's a major focal point so that was worth it. I highly recommend this. I just hope now that I can paint him somewhat close to the box art.

Finally some color on him. Not looking forward to the Tartan. The pictures as expected, are not good. As I progress, the sculpting helps immensely.

I should have finished this thread three years ago. I did actually complete this awhile back. Learned a lot and had fun.
