    Hello Planeteers,
almost finished my National guard Officer and started on the second figure that will be part of this little vignette.
In this case this figure belongs to the regular infantry commonly refered as "les Blancs" , the former title of this regiment is La Reine and the the renumbering of the regiments caused by the Revolution gave them the number 41st.
the uniform of this officer is a white coat with sky blue lapels and cuffs.
I modified one of my Modeles Et Allures figures (1765 uniform) to a 1791 cut and style, I shaved his false horizontal pockets and added some historex vertical pockets which I added some putty to make it slightly larger and added the Fleur-de-Lys badges on it's turnbacks.
The head is form JMD as usual with my figures and the casque is from VID soldiers in Ukraine, just added more "fur" and a plume that is from the same manufacturer.
my idea of this vignette is to have the Officer in white uniform showing and " critiquing" the newly issued "casque" for the French army to the officer of the National Guard.
    best regards

    Hi MM ,

Thanks for sharing this little WIP ...great idea , the 2 figures work really well together , great colour schemes as well ...but all that white ...which I hasten to add you have the gold medal for ..... lovely finish .

Obviously you enjoy this scale figure ...have you always worked in this size .....what made you choose this period ?

Thanks for posting , looking forward to seeing more on this .

Hello Nap and thank you for your kind words.
I have always work with this scale , the manufacturer show it as a 54mm but it is really a 60mm scale, I use the heads of JMD which are 65 mm and shave it a little to make it more suitable to the body of the figure and balanced.
I have been working in 40mm minis since January, something new to me, i am pretty confortable with, still learning ,figure after figure, but I decided to take a break from the 40mm and have some of my unfinish big lads into few small vignettes.
As for the period, I have always like all periods of military uniforms and history, of course I am more into the American War of independence, but I like the the period and uniforms till the fall of the monarchy , avoiding the reign of terror and rag tag French army and continue for my fascination with uniforms form the consulate period to the end of the great Emperor's era.
I will follow with more pics tomorrow, thanks for passing by.
    cheers

Daniel, watching this one with interest. You know I love your work. Please don't take this the wrong way, but I think that with the larger figures, vignettes like this one tell a more compelling story. Tight scene, clear idea of what's going on, skillful painting and modeling, and a title that assists the viewer to understand the story you're telling. "The New Helmut", or something similar.
Your "big scene" ideas seem to be more suited to the Trident 40mm figures. I'm not knocking your previous larger-scale figures in any way, but it seems to me that your big scenes are much more achievable with the 40s, based on your impressive output over the past few months.
Regardless, I'm anxious, like the others, to see the white-suited soldier come to life! Best regards, Don

Don , I don't take critiques and suggestions the wrong way, why would I?, on the contrary, I appreciate your comments and suggestions, always welcome and I agree with you 100% on the 40mm.
this scale gives the opportunity to tell a story, and that is exactly whay I am trying to portray here.
    Best Regards

I added the color base to the coat today.
I decided for a simple mix of Vallejo Khaki (988) and pale sand.
with the French coats I always lean towards the creamier whites.

Hello folks, I 've worked on the casque yesterday, so it is almost finished, just minor details need to be added.
I lay the facing color on the lapels and cuff with a simple mix of basic blue and white.
    cheers

Finished the coat and lapels, sill some minor touch ups.
I will post better pics tomorrow, took some shitty ones tonight, too tired to re-take them plus I like them better with more natural light.
The right arm is just there for display, I will strip the paint out and smooth the surfaces and re-paint it.
It belonged to another spare figure.
    Regards

    Hello folks,
I added some pics of the progress I've made in the last 2 days.
I finished the casque, added the right arm, cuff flap, ruffle cuff , hand and decided to add a riding whip with his gloves , I think I like the pose that way and would be normal for an officer to be mounted, I also added the sword hanging from a waistbelt that is underneath the vest, an item that it has been widely used since the uniform reforms form 1779.
The top part of the boots are almost done, I just want to add a little bit more contrast to the brown.
    Regards
