Thanks Greg, I will keep at it and post some more pics when I reach the next milestone.

A couple more pics of this great figure, taken at the same time as the previous pic.

Just working on the trousers and the wrappings around the feet and legs at the moment.

I plan to add some frozen snot to his moustache soon :playful:

It's a cracking winner Tony! My screen just froze with these outstanding flesh tones - everything in this miniature transmits a wintry and extreme atmosphere.

Can't wait for the next steps! :)

It is looking really good already. Nice cold skin tones.

Impressive, and the Jo Sonja paints are a really looking like the new favourite paint, giving very great results and quite versatile too!!

    Thanks for sharing the SBS,

Thanks everyone for your comments. It's great to get such positive feedback and encouragement from my peers.

The past two nights I've been applying the grey colour for the greatcoat. Last night I blocked in the first highlight and first shadows. There has been no blending yet so its still a bit rough in places.

    Cheers Keith,

I did a bit more on the greatcoat last night and continued blocking in the base colours for the backpack and the leggings.

I'm taking my time with this figure, which is unusual for me. Firstly because I don't want to rush it and secondly because I think this figure deserves the extra time and effort to bring out its best.

I'm no expert on Napoleonic uniforms, so if anyone can advise me about the colour of the trousers and the boots, I'd appreciate some guidance.

Here are a couple of pics taken late last night after a session of blending and highlighting, and a few tweaks on the shako.

Coming along nicely, Tony. That face is just stunning - the cold tones and expression are perfect, as is the shako.
    Really impressive, mate!

Looking suitably forlorn and on the wrong end of an a**e-kicking contest - and this is still in early stages!

    Cheers

Thanks to the Aussie members of my cheer squad - Nick, Ben and Jamie. You guys rock.

I've managed to get a bit of time in over the weekend, and decided to hit this figure with the oil washes and pastels early to build up the weathering effects.

I want to compound the misery by making him cold, muddy and also wounded and bleeding.

I've also started work on the base and groundwork in anticipation of mounting the figure onto the base during the next week or so.

Hi Tony, this is looking good mate,I'm really pleased you didn't give him that clean parade ground look, the weathering is great,I really like the way you handled the face, very realistic and cold,I was wondering, are you going to add any frost around the eye brows and moustache ?,I did this with mine a few years back and it really gave the face that bitter cold look,I'm really looking forward to seeing it completed :)

Hi Pedro, thanks for your comments. I'm glad you like the weathering effects. Hopefully they will look even better when the figure is mounted onto the base.

G'day Brian, yes the parade ground look (especially with Napoleonics) seems to be the most popular way of presenting figures, but I certainly favour the down and dirty approach. Yes, I will be adding snow effects to his eyebrows and moustache and over his clothing. This figure lends itself to extensive weathering and going to town on the snow effects.
