    My credit card...

I can't see too clearly from the pics, but that right arm and hand look like they could be a little...weird. But I can fix that if it is the case, and until I can see it better, Jeff gets the benefit of the doubt. Can never have too many good 200mm figs, especially the early war Germans.

The face appears to have a somewhat cartoony look about it.

Looks like a German face straight off a propaganda poster.

As I know that Jeff is reading our comments - congratulations to your new creation. I guess it is the second 200mm-release of a German soldier wearing the regular uniform of the Wehrmacht in WW 2! (The first one popped up in the nineties but was hardly commercially available). The pictures might be misleading but the area of his left wrist/thumb should get some further attention. The face has got a very strong jaw and reminds me of some post-WW2-memorials. All in all "another" MG-gunner but a very usefuld addition in this scale - well done, Jeff! I would like to see another 1/9 Infantryman (no fancy special weapons - just K98 and regular kit) in a more animated pose.... the same for Fallschirmjäger - not in winter clothing but regular Knochensack.....
Keep them coming! All the best!

The right lower arm looks too thick to my eye, also the veins too prominent. That disturbs me more than the "propaganda poster" face, to be honest. I could probably live with that.

Otherwise it looks terrific. If Jeff tweaks it a bit on the basis of readers' comments, I think I might just pick it up.

Yeah, by what I can see from the pics, the arms need some tweaking. I think the left one might be too short, and the hand too big and a bit off in shape. Almost like it goes directly from arm to hand, no wrist. The veins are a bit overdone, but those I can sand off to my liking. Looking more at the right arm/hand, it kind of reminds me of those plastic "Hulk Smash" glove things. I think the head is OK, and I don't see propaganda poster in it. The Young MG-42 gunner and some of his other German/Roman/SAS head sculpts appear far more propaganda posterish than this guy. This one just looks different, which is OK by me.

I am a big fan of all things Jeff Shiu puts out but those forearms are just wrong. If someone's forearms were that large, 'cut' and well defined (esp. pic 4), then his upper arms in proportion would be almost the size of his thighs. The forearms and massive hands are more reminiscent of a "superhero" character than a WW2 German soldier. Perhaps it's simply a trick of the camera but given it's box art and forums such as this which sell figures to online buyers, it's something Jeff may want to consider and possibly address; or at least take some better pictures which negate the concerns expressed? Other than that, I am sure this will be very popular with the WW2 crowd. Gary

THIS IS COOL!!! Yes I will get one.

The head is completely different from anything I have seen before. I love it!!!!!

I think the arms will be fixed with some sand paper.

After viewing this figure, I knew that I had seen it before. Jeff's rendering of this figure comes from Dmitriy Zgonnik's excellent artwork. I agree with the comments about the arms, they do seem to big in the forearms, and look a little short. I however, do like Jeff's work, and have some of his 1/16th scale figures in my collection. This is only the second 200mm figure from Jeff, but I must admit, I'm a little surprised and bewildered by this one. After the release of his excellent Fallshirmjagers, I would have liked to seen more animation with this 200mm. Maybe next time. Here is the artwork I mentioned. Regards, SG 72477_1000.jpg

Thats some nice artwork, and it does really show that the arms and hands need to be addressed.
For me, I like my 120mm/1/16th scale figs to have more animation that the 1/9 scale guys. Not that I mind animation, but Jeff does some very animated figs, the 120mm FJ tank hunters and the running MG-34 guy come to mind. I don't mind the bigger figs being more of a character study of the uniform and equipment of a particular subject. Not that they have to be stone dead straight and upright or anything, but less can be more sometimes. Theres a 1/6 FJ that is sold on e-bay thats very nice, but he appears to be jumping over a wall or off a halftrack, and is balanced on one arm. I just can't see me getting that to work for a display piece. Just a personal preference.
Jeff, if you are reading these, please address the arms before releasing the fig. I am an avid collector of 1/9-200mm figs and would love to add this one to the collection, but those arms would give me pause. However, I still give you a big thanks for continuing to produce full 200mm figs when a lot of manufacturers have moved away from them to half figs and busts.
    Cheers

Hello Jason, I agree that less can be more at times. Sometimes, but not always, I like to see figures with some sort of movement, even if it is slightly done. I also agree that I don't like to see figures, stone dead straight upright, as you put it either. To show my point, here is another drawing plate by Dmitriy Zgonnik (one of my favorite artists). I think this would be an excellent choice for 200mm. Regards, SG 533117855_1.jpg

SG, agree completely! I would love to see this one as a fig to pair with the MG-34 figure.

While we are dreaming of future projects I would like to share my favorite idea for an animated frontline soldier.

one of the projects I have on my bucket list but maybe an expert can realize him as a commercially available sculpt - do you hear me Jeff?

If I could like your post more than once I would! I have always thought that photo would be a great subject for a large figure.
