Outstanding Mike. The textures are beautifully done, leather being particularly fine.

Thanks Derek, Andy has sculpted some good texturing on leather & only requires painter to colour it up.

    Ta mate!
    Ta moko was a challenge.

Will try to do some lighter photos later, these ones are probably a bit "moody"

Hi Mike, nice painting. as on FB cant help notice the grip on rifle butt, he would need to have hand cupped under bottom for realistic pose, only a model I know but I just get drawn to it.
great brush work all the same.

Got great advice from John Belcher, just used this in a light tent at night.
    (1) put camera on Manual settings
    (2) adjust FStop to get best light - lower the better.
    (3) adjust Depth of Field depending on depth of focus you want

These photos FStop setting was 1.3, will try in light tent in daylight to get to 0.8 as per Maori Sergeant.
    Depth of field was 5
Two daylight coil bulbs pointed up into light tent - picked tent (60cm) up on TradeMe for $40

Now I'm sure we'll get some more expertise here to help too.

Keep practicing mate & hope this helps a bit.

    Mike

PS I can bring my photo kit with me & have a play when I visit perhaps

Know now what you mean about cupping hand Les, agreed though it is wedged close to cartridge pouch & cradles quite well on arm. Haven't handled a Snider so don't know where point of balance is so will defer to your expertise on this.

Superb work Mike, the moko looks wonderful, I think the best I have seen. Love the work you have done on his rifle stock, just comes alive but what is the hat type thing above the hammer?
Wonderful work with the various textures.
    Just superb.

Thank you Don for kind comment.

"Hat type thing" is old, battered British cartridge box.
