Just started this one and what a casting this is virtual no cleaning to do at all and no casting plugs.

At the moment some undercoats in humbrols and the helmut finished .
He is going on this Little Oak Burr 40x40mm working top as the scale is probably One Ninth

Great start Ron - will you be replacing the supplied pedestal, it looks like it dictates the figures position?

    Hi Mark
The under coat on the head is humbrols and as usual all will be in oils , Acrylics and I just don't mix I even had to ditch a litre of crown paint iI bought by mistake thinking it was gloss and didn't notice till I started to pain the skirtings in the cave

It does dictate the pose Rich!good he is leaning forward but if he is set at an angle of about 45 degrees it looks good so gonna stick with it .

    Cheers Pedro.
The helm gave me a bit of trouble as I changed my technique for metals on this one ,using a mix of different mediums GW leadbel Cher for the base ,highlights with model colour oily steel ,washes of Burnt umber and black oils and some stippling with burnt umber oils ,when dry I sprayed with GW varnish (aerosol )

Thanks! its nice to know there is still some life in the Humbrol range! ... the use of this medium seems to be falling away! (I grew-up with this stuff)

Looking good Ron. Are you going for a 'dark' scheme? would look great against the Burr 149524.gif TWOJ

Jacket will be leather ,not sure how dark think I will do the coat in some sort of dull green ,mind you green velvet might look good but would have to go on to the Jo Sonja's for that effect and I am not convinced about them yet so will stick to what I know for the time being .

Very nice start Ron. Must be a nice advantage to be able to pick or even create the perfect base for your figures. Even though the figure is only primed, the pairing already looks good. Nice job on the helmet.:wideyed:

Hi Ron, very good start mate and a nice base as well, nearly finished mine, I stuck with the powder bottles but replaced the resin cords with 15amp fuse wire and it worked ok,some of mine had broken anyway in the packet so it didn't prove too much of a disaster for me, look forward to your next posting mate

It is very early days with this one ,it is nice to be able to make a specific base for each figure ,funny thing though all the best ones seem to get sold and I end up with the bargain basement ones:arghh:

    Hi smudge
Giving you your Sunday name today:happy:

Not quiet made up my mind re the powder bottles ,the attached strings on mine were damaged also think it's inevitable considering how fine they are, fuse wire would be better.
Did you drill holes to to accommodate the wire for attachment on both items IE bust and bottles .

I now nothing about this period ,so if the bottles are not attached would the strings to hold them still be on the jacket? maybe someone can answer this .

    Ron

Ps looking forward to your version.

Hi Ron, yes I drilled small holes with my pin vice into the bottles then drilled holes in the cross belt to accommodate them after painting, I suppose you could leave them off though if you wanted
