Hello everybody,
Finally today hit the market a figure of 54 mm that I have made at the beginning of this spring for the Italian brand Kabuki Models.The subject is the Cinderella , a character from a fairy tale whose story there are several versions,the most popular version until now that is part of the collection of fairy tales (Märchen) written by Brothers Grimm . I let you bellow the pictures that Kabuki gave me as inspiration :




As always, I’ve started with the skeleton made by twisted wires.At this point I defined the segments of the basic anatomy (arms,forearms, legs,head, etc.) and than I set the position of the figure.




After that I corrected the movements trying to find the best solution for its position.

Looks good... like the concept sketches. The SBS photos are very informative... I'd love to see more pics of the steps as the details of the sculpt develope.

Paul, this is absolutely brilliant - thank you for sharing this.

I am certain you mentioned things like this before- but would you mind sharing more of practical elements of your technique- for example I notice that at this stage you seem to be carving more than sculpting - what do you use to refine basic shapes? And how do you polish them later?

Hello everybody,
I get more photos that include the figure dressing and also the separation for the molds. The arms had to be separated , the legs and also the head. When I have separeted each piece I stuck brads on the cut area . These brads served to grab the piece with a scalpel handle . It is more comfortable to work each piece separately for its definition. I’ll be back with the final photos.

Hello Richard and Romque,
Thank you for the nice words. About the medium that I'm using - of course , there are not so many possibilities to improvise the movement of the dress like in the drawing just to take a picture but :
the technique is the same as you would shape a flag or a cape in the wind. I made a very thin sheet of Milliput 75% mixed with greenstuff 25% and then I put it on the armature where I shaped the folds while the putty wassoft. in this case the armature is made by some bits of wire reinforced by more Milliput. I had also to take into account the particularities of the textile, in this case being a skirt with a pretty original pattern. I cut above the hips to separate the body. after making the lace for the body and hips (the legs went as 2 separate pieces) I got the sheet of the putty and I put it between the body and the hips and I found the edge from where the wrinkles spread towards the little birds, birds that actually grab the cloth and make the same wrinkles. by the way, although not seen in the last two photos, the skirt is split in two. the separation is barely noticeable in the rear where I could take advantage of some pronounced folds to disguise better. I hope these explanations serve,

Hi again Paul.
A quick question if I may......... When you mix the two putties, Miliput and Duo (greenstuff) what lubricant do you use to stop the sculpting tools dragging?
I ask because I understand that Miliput lubricates best with water and Greenstuff likes white spirit (Turps) or petrolium jelly so I'm confused as to what works for a mixture of the two?
