Actually there is. Although nobody mentioned the word ugly until you did.

Attempting to mock me doesn't do you any favours Mark, in fact to be blunt it just makes you come across as more childish than you have already with your silly mentions of cream of tartar. We're supposed to be adults here, whatever your problem is just get over it already.

If Young hires other painters to do the box arts, the faces will
    have a different appearance...

Love it. Another 'poster boy' straight out of Signal or Der Adler. I hope Young markets the ammunition separately as I'd like some for the other 2 MG gunners he's done in the past; either that or a snail drum or 2?....

Now I understand why I start shouting "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles" when the new Young German busts come out. :nailbiting:

You're a fine one to talk of mockery Einion, when most members here at some stage have had their own descriptions and explanations of techniques or materials poo pooed by you as nonsense...just the fact that you consider my own ideas as childish and silly is indeed mockery. If you don't wish to be mocked yourself then cease and desist.
BTW..I'm currently producing a 'how to' video of the uses of Cream of Tartar, so everyone can get their head around the ideas...I'll be sure to let you and all other members know when it's complete.....cheers.

Now back to the wonderful Young bust, sorry for the slight diversion there.....cheers.

Well,...I think you guys are goin to far so I'm going to change the the subject and stay with the same one.The piece is not my thing;.....But how about anatomy wise;..don't think the veins should be that prominent when the arm is up.May just be a painting mistake.
Sorry..................just trying to cool things down a bit;..and by God;.just trying to be one of the guys...Regards to all..........Wayne

Eh WWII German bust shocker! Not my thing at all but it is a fine sculpt and will no doubt sell well. I would like to see more medieval stuff this good myself. I for one am eagerly awaiting Marks SBS on Cream of Tartar o_O

I think in respect to heroic looks Mr. Young is strictly neutral - because of the nationality of his subjects you might have to do "Deutschland über alles" more often than "Land of hope and glory" or "Land of the free" but when it is not a German subject there is usually not all this crazy excitement going on. - So please Mr. Young if you want to satisfy some boys over here let your German subjects look more like cowards, bad guys or in some way inferior.....:arghh:

As usual a nice bust with a characteristic face. I like the way Mr. Young handled the straps of the helmet and have some doubts about way he is holding the barrel of the machinegun but this arm can possibly be seen as an option.

    Cheers, Martin

I want to know how you get so much creme out of a Tartar Mark.

This bust is not one I'd buy, but it doesn't stop me appreciating the great sculpting and painting that went into it.

I think Martin you are being a little over sensitive Re Germans or Deutschlanders, I bet there is a huge following of the German army re painting in this country
and to be honest there are more people in the world that hate the English race than any other , "Just for the record i do not hate anyone "

Back to the bust ! it is another fine rendition from this from Young's "Quality plus price"

Common sense dictates that German busts and figures sell, so logically sculptors weigh heavily towards them.
Painters buy them because they look good.....if the uniforms were British they'd still be bought because they look good.
Maybe you do get the odd nut job that uses them as a means of celebrating National Socialism but no-one I know and I know plenty of guys who collect German figures.
I've yet to meet a German I don't like but I meet Scots I don't like every day.
As to sculpting cowardly, 'inferior' (don't like to think what could be meant by this) faces, doing so would be commercial suicide.

    Hi Ron,
obviously I am not a native speaker but maybe you can give some guidance what the critique about "another poster boy straight out of Signal or Adler" followed by the "Deutschland über alles" shout was aiming at.
My point was anyway that the heroic faces of Young`s line are not bound to any nation but always get their kicks when the subject is German. That is not because of over sensitive hurt feelings but by just following the regular critiques of his new products. Try to find any of these comments related to his SAS, US Pilot or Paras.
Of course my suggestion to make a change was not a serious one and for the record: I do not hate anyone either and like Young´s style and his entire line - not just the Germans!

    Cheers, Martin

I think this is a great looking bust. I like the loose chin strap dangling from the helmet. I agree with Jason about the different helmet sizes. To me, the helmet looks fine. It looks like it is tilted back slightly, giving the loose chin straps a better appearance. Perhaps the helmet could be positioned further to the front, a good review would show this or not. You could also build up the front brim, or use a camo net on the helmet, as a suggestion. I also like the pistol tucked in his belt. The MG34, which looks good, could also be substituted with another weapon choice if desired. This bust has alot of conversion possibilities, many theaters it could be in. +1. However, Young miniatures do not release only german busts. I think that compared to the market, they have one of the most diversified range. I've calculated and 50% of their buts are german soldiers. 12 out of their 30 last releases are german WW2 soldiers. It is not that much. So I find strange and inappropriate that each time a young bust is released we hear the "another german". We can criticize the subject of the range (WW2), but as said their range is very diversified.

With regards to this bust, I do not really like it. I don't know why. I don't like the helmet and the overall look of the guy. It is perhaps one of the first time I do not like a Young bust. I'm so sure that I will like the 60 next releases
