Hi All,
I have had this kit for over 15 years at the base of my greay army, and have finally taken it out to start work on it. Its a garage kit by 5th Sense, all resin and was sculpted and cast when you had to mail order kits from overseas via snail mail!!!!
Although the sculpt is pretty good, the casting leaves much to be desired, lots of flashing, heavy mould lines and tones of airbubbles (the kit would probably be twice as heavy if cast properly!!!!).
I have decided to do a fair bit of work to him to bring it up to todays standards.
I will ......
- Replace the MP-5 with a scratch built one
-cut and reposition his left arm to raise it toward his mouth more
-replace the walkie talkie
-add and resculpt more folds/definition in his clothing
-generaly tidy up the kit more

In these first pics you can see where I have added some Aves to bulk up some of the folds in his singlet and trousers, and ground out some depth as well. I have drawn where I will engrave the sewlines in his singlet. You can also see some of the air bubbles that are prevelent throughout the kit, fun and games!!!!

I agree with Jason there are some excellent 1/6 scale MP-5`s available at fairly good prices.

That does look like Bruce. Should be a good paint job on this puppy. Wow, older kits are creapin outta the closets lately, lol. Standing by for more.

Cheers for the comments, yes the likeness is pretty good which is a great start, a few "Bruceities" such as his skull tattoo and the scar on his right shoulder and cigarette hanging from his mouth will make it more like him.

I had looked around ebay and did a search for 1/6 MP-5's after putting the post out ages ago about exactly what type of gun it was, but didnt like what I had found (a bit fussy). I am a bit of a sucker for going the long route and have already started on it. Will see how it comes out.

Yeah I have always liked this sculpt, but been afraid to start him knowing the amount of work involved to get him to the standard I want.

Well Ben, you've finally got started on this project - good to see mate. You've certainly got your work cut out for you.

I have no doubt you'll do a fantastic job on him. The scratchbuilt MP-5 sounds like a bit of fun too.

Ya buddy, there are some great older kits I never got hold of I'd like to see, and I have just a few myself. But I agree, we do what we can, and ain't nuthin wrong with old school, not a thing. Should be a fun paint job too, Ben.

Alright just a bit of an update, things have been hectic around here so not too much at this point.
First lot of pics are of his left arm that holds the radio, although I have cut and bent his arm already, you can see what used to be the radio in his hand, not much more than a block of resin, so I have cut it out and scratchbuilt the Kenwood radio that is used in the movie, its not an exact replica, but a lot more like it than what was in his hand before.

And now onto his right arm that holds the MP-5. First pics are of the arm with the old gun removed just above the trigger, you can see how bad this bit of casting was, the gun was bent and misaligned. The second lot of pics are of what I have scratchbuilt so far, using brass tubing, Plastistruct and a bit of Aves Putty. I have also used the resin stock/handgrip, but am in the process of getting rid of the shrinkage in it. Its still not finished yet but I think it looks better than the resin version!!!
