    Hello folks,
i have been a little busy this week, but i was able to work on 3 of my firing line chasseurs of the touraine Regiment
The Chasseurs are going to be placed forward of the yorktown diorama, while the rest of the regiments are taking Battle positions or maneuvres.
I decided not to use the plumes on the hats and use a green pompons ,instead i made this changeaccording to the 1779 uniform regulations, the plumes from the 1776 regulation were still in use on most of the regiments serving in the Caribbean.
the 3 figures are 90% completed, with some minor details here and there but they will be ready by sunday or monday.
In one the last pic you'll notice another 3 chasseurs, i color/primed them with Army painter skeleton Bone and i received the Army painter Strong Quikshade, i am pretty happy with the result, wheter that is not consider professional to painters or not i like the dipping system and may work fine for me.
    Great weekend to all.

    Hi Daniel,
These little men are great. Your painting on them is very good indeed.
Painting white is a challenge, painting two or three different whites on the same figure is really difficult especially in such small areas. You have achieved this in in fine style.
    Well done Mate.
    Cheers,
    Keith

Excellent painting Daniel. The faces are very nice indeed. Perhaps a little weathering would be possible? I think it would make them egen more realistic.

    Best Regards lars

Keith, thank you for such encouraging words (please forgive my spell)
White is difficult , and yes is a challenge when you try to paint cold whites and warm whites on the same figure.
I second guess myself few times and repainted some ares but all in all i am happy with it.
I am using this troopers to try different techniques , products and get more familiar with washes and inks, which is an area that i need to improve and be a little bit more confortable with.
thanks for passing by and you comments/critiques are very important to me.
    Best regards

Thanks for your kind words Lars, the faces i think are ok, maybe some smoke form the musketry fire will look ok, but i still need to paint the hats, they have just the base color and normally i like to weathering the hats, i am not really good on weathering the faces :(.
    thanks again for passing by.

40mm in height? and with facial expressions, with highlights too?
changed the hat plumes to pom-poms?
    wow!!

    And so many figures too.....(y)

As other have said, it is your figure(s) and how you wish to display them is up to you, so long as you are happy with the results!

    Cheers

I think you misundetstod me. I meant you should weather the uniform. A couple of stains and dirt would really make them stand out. But maybe it is impossible in such a small scale. Sometimes pictures fools us and make things appear much larger than in reality. And what is a good idea in theory just look stupid in reality.

However very nice painting so far.

    Cheers Lars

    Hey Daniel,
As always, you're doing a bang up job on this huge undertaking. You can really pump out these little buggers at an alarming rate. Without a scale reference, there is no difference between these guys at 40mm and your other Frenchies at 70mm.... You still manage to represent all the subtle colours and detail the same on both sets.

    Well done, my friend

Thank you very much Lars, yes , i thought you were refering to the faces.
I attempted some dirt on the elbows and lower edges of the coats, but i don't know if that is going to have the effect as on the large scale figure, i would have to exaggerate the dirt since in a such small scale contrasts must be pushed further to be visible to the eye.
I will rpobably post more pics tomorrow.
    Thanks again for your imput.

You made my day mate, thanks for such encouriging words.
This 40mm experience is something new for me and i am having a lot of fun on trying new techniques and experimenting with inks and washes, certainly is something that it may help improve on the bigger scales.
best regards and always good to have you here.

i made more progress on these little fellas. It's only left to do the shoes, the garter will have a different tone of black to contrast the black gaiters and i will paint the bases earth color, then finish the figure with dullcote.
I already started the officer pointing with a sword,i will have them all finished by the end of this week and will post the mixes.
    Best regards

    Looking good Daniel
Still can't believe these are 40's... The sculpts are very good and your paintwork is outstanding. Your little additions... work on the tricorns and epaulettes etc, only serve to add to already interesting figs.

I like the chasseur with his head turned... looks like he can't believe the order the officer just gave him :woot: Looks like he's saying "WTF????" :wtf:

    Keep up the great work
