I've started painting on some of the items, being the wooden platform and door and also the barrels,i have a paticular method for simulating wood which i will share with my fellow modelers,i have also added some pictures of the painting at different stages, the method is as follows:

Base colour - GW Scorched Brown
Stage 1 - Apply GW Desert Yellow in streak pattern (Do not completly cover the Brown base colour.
Stage 2 - Apply GW Doombull Brown in streak pattern (Do not completly cover the base or desert yellow).
Stage 3 - Apply GW Chaos Black in streak pattern (Do not completly cover the base or the previous 2 coats)
Stage 4 - Apply mixture of GW Desert Yellow and GW skull white in streak pattern and to all edges .
Stage 5 - Apply mixture of Mars Black and Burnt Umber oil paint in a 10% black 30% Umber all over the previous painted area completly covering the painted area, then wipe clean the oil paint to leave a nice stain effect simulating the wood, its important to take off as much oil paint as possible, having done this you should still be able to see the muted acrylic paint streaks simulating the wood.

Following this one with real interest, Brian. I can see already, it's going to be a stunner.
I love bases like this, that put a figure in context of the time/place. Modelling at it's best! ;)
    Cheers

Hi Brian, looking good mate. If I may suggest, some rust on the bands around the barrels would work, given the water/puddle you intend to include.

    Regards

Hi ron,all the final weathering will be done once the scene is nearly complete, this way i can tie everything in together even the figure (y)

Great work Brian, as you said, this is a great figure and you are putting it into that dirty old seedy London town scenario perfectly!
Look forward to seeing the end result Geezer!

    Hi Brian.
I love the seedy backdrop to your figure, you set the scene so well I can almost smell it. :yuck: (y)........He looks like he's checking up on Nancy to make sure she's earning her keep to me ;)
Like the other guys, I've never painted a figure (or anything else for that matter) illuminated by an artificial light source so I'll be fascinated to see how it's done. I really hope you keep up the W.I.P postings and perhaps a short description of your painting method with regard to the light.
When I learn to paint a half decent figure in natural light I'd love to try something like this but for now I'll just admire from a distance and keep my feet on the ground in 1st grade figure painting school. :)

    Richard.

Many thanks richard,i'm not sure if the result will be realistic,i can only go with whats in my head,so i hope i can at least do something which looks like a natural light scene, perhaps it would have been better in a shadow box (y)
