This is very much still a WIP, but I reckon it's coming on okay.

It has the look I wanted, with Old Man Vlad there, badly wanting to glower at the cross inside the ruins but being distracted by "The Lady of the Forest" - while his sidekick, the Itinerant Knight Wilkowski - well, he's giving the rabid local wildlife a wide bearth; and meanwhile, the Lady's saying, "Down Fido" - maybe.

Not much more I can do with it for at least 24-hours while all that celluclay, 2-part epoxy and diluted white glue dries out and cures - then I'll get the groundwork finished and sort out a few painting mistakes on "The Lady".
So, while this one's been put into it's allotted place in the display cabinet, probably until Tuesday - I've another small vignette on a similar theme to get on with tomorrow.

    Cheers

The Voivode, Vlad II Dracul, and his Boyar, the Polish Knight Wilkowski, are heading for his Capital City of Târgoviște when suddenly....

Thanks mate - glad you like it so far.
That "Lady of the Forest" is going to have to come back out of there so I can replace the poleaxe in her left hand though. Just prior to taking the snaps, I knocked her over and snapped the thing off at her hand - then botched the repair........as is obvious in one of the pics.
Now I've looked closely at the photos, replacing the kit spear seemed like a good idea at the time, but the poleaxe just doesn't work with her - it's too big. In addition, I want to relocate her slightly so her sword is in front of the cross - at the moment, it looks like the Werewolf is somewhat less than happy cos she just zapped his backside with the flames at the sword tip.
The truth is, I deliberately put the vignette into the display cabinet so I'd leave the thing alone for a day or two. Otherwise I'd just be continually fickering with it - end up completely messing it up - and have to start all over again, (wouldn't be the first time either).

I'll post some WIP photos of the second 75mm vignette I have lined up tomorrow night, (my local time).

I think this is the first vignette in 75mm I´ve seen in a long time, and the first so original, well painted and well constructed. You have made a beautiful scene and the figures are selected cleverly. Great work!

Firstly, thanks to all who've made encouraging comments and those who've indicated they like what they see.

Here's a close up pic of each character presently covered in static grass where static grass shouldn't be, but that'll wash off once the groundwork's finished.
I probably overdid "Wolfie's" drool, and I've no idea how I'll get the kink out of the Roaming Knight's sword - a tweak with a pair of smooth-jawed pliers maybe.
"The Lady of the Forest" lost her outsized poleaxe today and gained a pair of gloves; mainly cos it's difficult enough to sculpt a new left hand from milliput - never mind lumps of set 2-part epoxy........I don't know what to do about that one either - probably end up replacing the left hand altogether.

I'm presently awaiting delivery of an order from the UK which includes additional scale plants, flowers and suchlike, so that's as far as I can take this one for the time being and it's gone back into the display cabinet again. Guess I'll get on with the second one this week sometime.

As others said that is brilliant. And that is what I love about this hobby-art. The ability to create environments and scenes by combining different elements-figures. Well thought, greatly presented and very original. Congratulations.

Hi, Harry, thanks for the heads-up on your thread, now that I see the photos here, it looks even better.

I don't think the drool is overdone, he's a slavering beast, ready to chow down ;) Are you replacing the pole ax with a spear? I can picture a spear rather than any bladed weapon.

    Prost!

    Hi Brad,

Glad you like it and thanks for the feedback.
I did change the "Lady of the Flame's" original poleaxe out for a slightly more believable item.

Despite the fact it's not quite finished yet I've put this one on display along with my other "Lazy Susan" based dioramas - and I don't think it looks out of place. I do hope those orders from the UK and the States get delivered soon so I can get it completed though. I'll then be able to post improved photos with appropriate backdrops.

Meanwhile, I've almost finished all the conversions and repaints for my 54mm "Battle of Teba 1330" diorama and hope to get it completed sometime next week before I head off to sunnier climes than freezin' cold NE China.
    Cheers

Thanks very much for that Frank. I'm really glad that you and a few of the other guys appear to like it.
This website can tend to be fairly intimidating at times, especially for a beginner such as myself, so it's extremely encouraging that this vignette has attracted positive feedback and I highly appreciate it.
I've relocated the "Lady of the Forest" and "Wolfie" a little bit and added a 75mm Frank's Miniatures Archer figure to the cast of characters. As you can see, the wife's hairbrush does provide excellent scale bowstrings - and for free........:)....plus I've managed to unkink the Roaming Knight's sword to a certain extent.
Seriously though, these changes seem to me to have added balance and visual appeal and I'm pretty pleased with the way it's turning out.
I'm very aware that I need to do a bit more work on the Archers bowcase and quiver, but that's had to take a bit of a back-seat for the moment because I really want to get my expanded "Battle of Teba 1330" diorama finished before I travel back to the day-job in April.
Meanwhile, here's where I am with this one right now.
    Cheers

    Hi Brad,

I think keeping Wolfie placed in the original layout would have meant adding another figure in his present location to maintain balance in the scenario, otherwise there would be a great big open expanse right at the front.
The diorama isn't finished yet and I might still play around with the layout. The only other 75mm figure I've got available right now is Pegaso's Roland at Roncisval and he won't work. Besides, I'm reserving him for a different vignette anyway. Having said that, I do have two other 75mm figures primed and ready for a lick of paint. Won't be finished until I get back home in May though.
