Looks very good to me Ron,
If you go for weathering, in this case less is more. Be careful not to lose the fine brushwork you have achieved here.
    Great work Ron.
    Cheers,
    Keith

Thanks for that Steve. I am more comfortable with pastels, as opposed to painted tarnishing, so will go with oils and pastels mate (y)

Hi Gra, more at home with Ron tho mate, I get easily confused at my age

All metals are 'Mr Hobby' with usual oil shading. Will return to Vallejo metallics in future as they are far nicer to work with.
Only use the inks, mixed with oils, for lace or embroidery to get a flatter finish for cloth look.
Really pleased you like him and will talk as soon as I come off shift.

    Cheers

I like the face. Looks like he is cold, tired and utterly miserable. For me, I would add more weathering and snow, but it looks good like it is.

Your work is wonderfull at all!
I wanted to buy this bust from Bonaparte but i haven't see it painted.
    You give it life !
Your work returns well this atmosphere of the retreat of Russia.
For thee bust, very beautiful, I was a little bit sceptical on the other hand on the helmet.
Your photos watch that something is above missing!

    The crest is not complete!
Something has not to go to this magnificent figurine.
But your work, another time is wonderful, and with your way of painting , this little sculpture detail is forgotten.

Sometimes less is more as they say ...this looks very good to me as it stands ...I love weathering figures but it is possible to overdo in my eyes....Great job

You won it in a 'Raffle',... or it was gifted!... it was really cheap on E-Bay!!:LOL:.

Its worth the money!... and possible grief! from your wife,:ROFLMAO:, as there is so much to it, for the price.

    Thanks Pete, much appreciated.

Hi Zastrow, and many thanks for your comments and input regarding the missing "Medusa" crest. My research into this revealed that many helmets did not have them as a cost saving.

Thanks Funky, I do agree that sometimes, less is indeed more. I will be very careful to try and balance any weathering with the already 'dirty' colours I have used. I do feel that a light dust of snow on the high points, as many have suggested, will add an extra dimension.

    Really appreciate that Gra.

    Cheers

For the mMedusa, do not forget the era, it's was the period (just before russia invasion) when the Empire was as its highest.
Cuirassier were elite cavalry, regarding this, and the control made by D'Hautpoul of the heavy calvalry, all this regiments were very well equiped.
It was the only time in the Empire (with the Boulogne Camp) of something like that arrive!

Many thanks for your explanation Zastrow. I will admit that the net is a minefield of misleading information. I stand corrected and am grateful to you for taking the time to post your reply.

    Regards

    Ron
