    Hey All

    Finally DONE!!!!
This is my first attempt at a bust and perhaps not my last. I'd always been nervous of painting at this scale but got more comfortable as the project went on. Greeny did a great job sculpting this guy... crisp detail, all parts fit perfectly and it half painted itsself. This was a pleasure for my first attempt, thanx Greeny.
Through the whole project I was accutely aware that this will be a meaningful piece. My ancestors were Zaporohzian cossacks, my Greatgrandfather was Hetman of his Kuban siche and my Grandfather fought in a Kuban Regiment in WW II and made sure that our family heritage was not forgotten when he came to Canada. I am the first Canadian born Semenenko but I will always be proud of my Cossack roots... as will my son and hopefully his children too. (que manly tear on cheek)
Painting was done in Vallejo acrylics with Citadel washes. The base is the tower from an old hockey trophy, cut down.
As usual, the pics are crap, alot of the contrast is washed out :depressed:
Thanx to all the PF members who have motivated and supported through this project... Cheers!

Thanx so much Alex, Colin and Zeno... We will be a Hamilton this weekend... so you can have a go at him in person ;). Can't wait for the gang to get together Sunday, we don't gather the troops nearly often enough.

    See you soon

SG, Carl, Joe, Martin, Christos, Nap, Marc, Steve and Pedro... Thanx so much for your kind words and support. I chose this piece mostly for the subject matter that is so near and dear to my heart. Those who know me know I never was a huge fan of busts (I'm more of legs and ass man ;)) but this experience has warmed me to them a bit. I'll always be inclined to 54's and 75's but now, if the subject catches my eye, I won't be as quick to dismiss a bust. Still not sold on the half figures though... Sorry.

    Thanx again all

Keith and Richie... Thanx for your kind words though the whole project.
With all the hard work we put in, a giggle or two keeps things light and fun... even if this piece is done I'm always in for a little good humoured banter.

I figure if we're laughing, you might miss some of the weakness in my painting :sneaky:

    Thanx again
