    Hi Guys ,

This is the bust originally sculpted by Jimbo from this forum, he did it as a a Sgt , I have promoted him to S/Sgt and added some medals together with the peak .

Currently the cap has no lacework on top I can only find the "button" has anyone got any details on wether this did infact have any.

This has been in my primed area for a while , currently working on his flesh ..acrylics , Army Painter's Warpaints and also Jo Sonja's , trying to get the veteran look , battle hardened .

Slightly blurry pics aside, this looks like a fantastic piece that really captures the period look of a veteran soldier.

    Hi Guys ,

Been dong a little bit more on this , finished the gold band on the cap in NMM, theuniform colour is virtually there , possible looking again at the highs a little , though I do not want to push them too much , might work a little more on the shadows .

The collar is done ...loads still to do including the cap piping , the epaulettes, the buttons the ranks badges and of course the meddals

Just spotted I have not done the pupils and catchlights ...silly boy !!!

    Off to paint

    Thanks for looking in

    Good work Kev,
A great sculpt from Jim, I love this period and he has got it spot on here.
It may be the pictures but the jacket colour looks a little too light.....but I know you somehow work a little bit of magic with your final brush strokes so I will watch with interest.
    Good work mate.

    Hi Keith ,

The colour is actually a bit darker so it might be the pics but You are right I will darken the colour a little more probably with a wash mix of D Prussian Blue and Black or look at the Blues that I have from Reaper .

Perhaps others might suggest their colour mix as well for this RA uniform ?

Hi Kevin and good morning to you,
For what it is worth; I always use indigo as the basic colour for British navy blue and work it darker with black. I always used to go for Prussian blue but found it too royal blue when highlighting, if you get what I mean?
Looking forwaed to your next installment.
    Cheers,
    Keith
PS Is this piece available anywhere?

Hi Kev, Stick at it mate after seeing it last night it's coming along well,

Keith, the blue is darker in the flesh then what is showing up in the photo,
Also you asked if this was available anywhere: if you want a copy of this bust now I have just one left over, so if your interested in it give me a PM, the actual master of the bust has now been sold to Gordon Mitchell (Mitches Military models) he'll be producing it at some point in the near future.

    Cheers

    Hi Guys ,

Been working on the lacework and the epaulettes recently , finally done the eyes(phew!!!) ...still lots to do , all in NMM etc ......hopefully you can get the general idea ........this is now getting to actually come together ...at last ....I have finished the medals and the epaulettes "golds" , still to redo the red facings

The blue is as Jimbo says in his post a lot darker and actually looksfine in the flesh !!!

    Thanks for looking

    Mighty fine progress Kev.
I can see now that the blue is far darker than it looked in the initial photos.
Great character in the face and really good NMM lace. Also your additions match seamlessly.(y)
I hope that my version is half as good as this one.
Waiting with interest on your next installment.
Great work Mate. I like it.
    Cheers,

    Hi Keith ,

Thanks for the comments , the pics are not great but the NMM does look a lot better , I think I might revisit the collar lace again ........then its the brass buttons/leather peak and strap the rank and then base up ......then ....its the Naval VC winnersfor me !!!

After that might have a break from medals !!!!!

Looking forward to seeing what you do with your version .

    Thanks for the comments
