Here's my contribution to the excellent idea from Colin (crf) to suggest that members post more SBS threads. Unfortunately I have already started however I am not too far ahead to make any changes needed. So here goes.
The idea to do the bust came from fellow Pf member redtom who having just returned from the States asked me to do him a conversion from a russian to that of a American Civil War Missouri bushwacker o_O an obvious choice you might think;). I was happy with the result so me being lazy and already armed with all the research material here's my second version .

    Historical bit : wikipedia.org/wiki/Bushwhacker
I started with the face using a 1/9th resin casting from a previous sculpt I did and after much scraping and filing added the hair and beard.

Nice WIP Ken - you aren't too far along yet so there's lots to see yet....and cool to have the history too. How far are you going down on the battle shirt?

I should explain that the picture of the two brothers is just for reference and I'm not baseing the face or sculpt on either one.

Carl have you been peeking. :sneaky: or have you been speaking to Steve Readdie.

Colin, many thanks and regarding the battle shirt I plan on showing the pockets and to stop just above the belt-line.
