Must be fancy dress, My memories of the Regimental Sgt Major during my time at the Guards Depot recall an immaculate CG WO1 Gibson. Unlike the hobbit above.

Defo a wanabe! RSM of the Depot was a Taff when I was there. Looked good from a distance because you didn't want him anywhere near!.

Figure looks good, if you do decide to have a go at the "fried egg" on his arm remember that Billy Mott as GSM London District has been given the old chevron badge.

    Hi Richie and Del,

Many thanks guys. It’s nice to get the thumbs up from people I respect on PF…..plus the odd monkey here and there.

I am just painting the lace on the collar in the NMM style. This seems to be the in style, I thought “Gang-Nam Style” was en vogue at the moment. Either way it is still a pig to do, all those little s’. I will post it when it’s done ....if my sanity holds out.

    Thanks again Chaps.
    Cheers,
    Keith

    Hi Keith,

I love the detail you've got on this particularly the buttons. Before you go too much further on the medals the positions for the MSM and the LS and GC have been flipped. The LS and GC should be the last one.

You have done a superb job on this bust, every thing about him is very good.
I'm shaking in my boot's now just looking at him and I was not a Guardsman. (Line regiment but drilled by RSM Brittain GG in in 1971)
    Regards

Court mounted medals are stitched to a single buckram board, bottom picture, and after five (I think) they start to overlap. It makes it much smoother, and easier for you i hope.
    All the best.

    Most kind Bob. Many thanks.
I think that if you survived RSM Britain you could cope with the lovable Billy Mott.

All is well thanks. We moved house a couple of months and I've finally unpacked the paints. I've just started priming one of the old Grieve figures now available from CGS. It's the drummer from the 15th Foot in 1775 (not a Guardsman!!!!!!). I'll be experimenting with some of the techniques you used with acrylics. It's a yellow tunic too so that could present some challenges!

Yes I know the figure you a talking about.
It was my good friend Paul Blaber that painted the one for David Grieve that is on the CGS site.
It is a good piece and some tricky elements on the drum but nothing that you will not be able to master Pete.
Strange as it may seam that yellow/mustard is my favorite colour to paint.
I am pleased that the move went well and more importantly found the paints.
Keep me posted on your progress and don't hesitate to call if I can help.

I printed out the picture of Paul's work from the CGS site to use as a reference. At least the details on the drum are etched on - that makes life a bit easier. Many thanks for offer of help. Sorry to hijack your thread!
