Managed to squeese in some time for painting during the Christmas holidays and finished this figure.
The light colors was not as difficult as I feared. After some trial and error I realised that the shadows just don't need to be as dark as in darker colors if you know what I mean. The drum and the Kings monogram, a first time for me doing this type of painting, was quite fun to paint and weather. I'm not ready to do flags yet but maybe some caparison or similar.

Lars, i love the way it came up.
the only thing about this figure that make me think a little bit is the blond hair, it may be the camera but it looks too yellowish to me,not like a natural blond hair.
I am not one to offer advice when it comes to hair and other items in a figure,but i think the tone is a little too "lively" for a hair color.
Amazing sculpt,amazing paintjob.

Well done Sir. The Sculpt is very good as stated in your earlier post The drum looks good. I have to concur with Marcus about the hair. My advice on Blonde hair is the following: English Uniform+Golden Yellow adding white for the high's. Shadows: Base+Blackened Brown until you achieve the contrast your looking for. This is just one mix. I know that there are many others. You have to experiment until you find the one works for you.

Daniel, Mike - You are quite right about the hair, It was actually the part I struggled most with. I'm not at all satisfied with the result. I used brown as a base. Golden yellow + iraqi sand as highlight and some redbrown with the label unreadeble (quite a problem with my vallejo bottles, the lettering wearing off) used more like wash. oh and some green also, witch acually made the yellow stand out. probably too much then. Maybe the English uniform is better, I can't remember but is't there a tint of green in it? I try some of it and see how it works. Thanks again

I think this is your best figure to date. Both the sculpting and the painting is very nice! I am especially impressed in how you managed to keep a juvenile appearance of the boy and at the same time also give him that hardy and war weary look.

Johan I can't really take so much cred for his character, it really is Mr Saunders who deserve that. His talent for sculpting heads helps alot. All I had to do was paint it really really careful .

Very nice indeed the hair's been mentioned but maybe a dry brush with an amount of sand might just take the "yellowish" off it without a major re doing of the figure ?, other than that I like the really soft colour scheme and overall look of this mate nice one
