    Hello planeteers,
finally done with the Saintonge officer.
By 1781 most of the French regiments wore the 1779 regulation uniform, Saintonge and some other regiments still had part of their troopers in the "old" 1776 Regulation uniforms.
An officer of course, will have been dressed in the new 1779 regulation that was white with green facings.
I decided to paint this officer in the old uniform thinking that he will go into action, why not wear the old uniform? , why stain the new one? , and another reason is that officer serving overseas had less control over their comrades serving in the motherland.
Painting all in acrylics 9vallejo,andrea and citadel).
    oils only or metal parts.

Hat ,scratch made and following colors:
base: german grey, dab of medium flesh and dab of citadel charadon granite
lights ; base + yellow ochre
    shadows base plus black

Coat: Base; ivory, pale sand , japanese uniform and dab of black (stephen Malia's tutorial @ El greco miniatures)
lights ; base + ivory and last lights pure white.
shadows; base plus japanese uniform, last shadows added english uniform

Collar: Base ; deep sky blue and dab of Andrea basic blue
    Lights; base + white
    Shadows; base plus basic blue.

    Lapels and cuffs:
to make the AURORE is used the following:
Base; basic red and matt yellow
    lights;base + deep yellow
    shadows; base + basic red

    Vest and pants:
    Base, deck tan
    lights; base + white
shadows;base + stone grey, last shadows added german grey
I hope you folks like it.

You are really developing a style with these figures. The painting continues to improve, and you bringing your "grand scene" to life, slowly but surely. Well done!

Thank you Marc, yes, they are very difficult colors indeed , i think everybody has a different concept of what 'Aurore" color should be and i think i am really happy with the result , but i find very hard to work on shadows and lights when it comes to yellowish colors.
    Cheers
