Me again
Continuing with this project, I've taken a shot at sculpting the long hair in motion. I used a 70/30 mix of Apoxie and greenstuff. In the pics it's hard to see some of the scribing of the hair, but it's there... honest



Snapped off the lefthand fingers as I worked on the hair... Redid them after the pics with the same mix as the hair. Worked out much better I think.

Appreciate any feedback or help I can get from y'all

Hair looks pretty good to me, it has really brought the figure to life.

It's hard to decide how much detail to add to hair but I think this is just about the ideal amount for this scale. For ease of working and resistance to knocks I'd have probably used a mix heavier on the Kneadatite or even used it neat (but not mixed 1:1).

Einion brings up a good point about the amount of detail in hair at this scale. It looks right, although as suggested it may make your life easier using straight Kneadatite. Rather than cutting into the putty with an exacto blade, press into it with the sculpting tool, needle, or the like. This way you will avoid so much tearing of the putty and end up with as much definition as you'd like. Remember you can always add more detail with paint .

Thanx everyone for your kind support and great advice. Every stage of this project has been a learning experience, 1) from actually putting my hands on putty and seeing what it does/doesnt do and 2) from the comments and advice of fellow modellers.

This has be a blast and I can begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel

Ron, that is a beautiful beast Once the strings are laid in, Im gonna add the cover at the middle pick up and a 60s style bridge cover. I do love the black Ricky but this one will be the blonde Lemmy used in the late 70s... with the Iron Cross and "born to lose" painted on it. How have i handled it so far?

Only play pink floyd solos on my beloved 50th anniversary black Strat these days, with Humbucker crossover switch and rosewood fret board

I too did the band thing in the 80s and early 90s... all originals but nothing so civilized as Floyd Im afraid more the hardcore metal thing.... we'd do Motorhead covers to warm up for the faster stuff. Ahh, angry youth
Back then I played Samick and Yamaha 5 string basses and a B C RICH 4 string. I still have the 5s and a Traynor 4 plus a small collection of 6s... flying V, Explorer, 2 BC Rich's and an Ibanez. Just sold an SG baritone .

Rock on mate, you've certainly captured the spirit of Lemmy in a live performance, coming along really nice. I hope when you base him up you add the inverted trade mark mic & stand . That "Ace Of Spades" track of yours must be getting some hammer.
