    Hey All, back again...

Some more progress on my attempt at sculpting.
First, I repaired the lower legs of the jeans... shortened them up and eased the transition from knee to cuff. Then, fleshed the arms and after three or four attempts, finally got the shirt on... minus the collar. I used the guitar strap to make the indent in the wet putty where the strap will rest.

Then tonight, the shirt collar and pocket flaps were added and some of the spots on the shirt were touched up. The guitar strap and belt were fixed and belt loops added. Rough fingers were added to the hands (modeled to represent the descending figure of the main riff in "Ace of Spades" :wacky:). Once the putty sets (tomorrow) I'll try to clean up some of the edges and go at the hands some more.
That leaves me with the hair :nailbiting: and the infamous "bullet belt"... trying to decide whether to make the belt from scratch (already rolled out lots of putty to the right thickness to be cut to length when dry) or see if Joe and Greg have anything appropriate at The Sentry... Hint hint

Comin along nice here Colin. I think you might do well smoothing out the shirt somewhat, it just looks a bit rough. If you thin down some magicsculpt you can kinda brush it on and then go at it with some light sanding. Unfortunately you might be on your own as far as the belt is concerned, I don't think I've got anything for that.

It's getting there, almost done! Good work.

Thats an excellent Idea Steve! Gotta be better than these hundreds of tiny chopped up bits of rolled out putty :blackeye:

Colin - for my cartridges on my 54mm Tommy's War Lincolnshire figure, I bought Plastruct scale white plastic dowel from Above Ground Art Supplies by the AGO and sliced it into appropriate lengths. Its available in various diameters at a reasonable price. Just a thought.

Same idea as the putty I rolled out and cut up into equal lenths... My issue is now how to fashion all these little bits into a belt :depressed: I was thinking a very narrow strip of electrical tape as the backing, range the wee bits out on it and another, thinner strip on top, indented between the shells as the belt links. Do you have any thoughts on the matter?

I've been tearing the house apart since I started this project looking for my old bullet belt as a model  This has been like a trip down memory lane... I found my old leather jacket and cut off jean jacket (odd, they seem to have shrunk while hanging in the closet these last 20 years), the pointy boots with the silver toe caps and spurs... but no bullet belt!!!! I may have to go down to the Army surplus by the Jarvis Armoury and buy a new one :p

In 54mm - 75mm I would glue on the bullets and paint the belt for this. Any material you put over the bullets will be out of scale.

Did some experimenting last night and youre right Colin, the scale is too small to get crazy with the belt. I will mount the shells on the belt and paint the links rather than try to sculpt them
