Here's my newest 120mm bust in progress. It's a Sadhu, or a Hindu shaman. These dudes are pretty cool, they give up all their possessions and family, etc, to go on a path of spiritual enlightenment. And a lot of them smoke marijuana all day, every day, to get there. Not my thing, but gotta respect 'em for trying ;). Saw a special on National Geographic about Sadhus in Nepal, got inspired, and am sculpting it for my friend Pete to paint up. The sculpt isn't much to see because the intense paintwork is what will make it. I'm modeling him after this one photo, hope y'all like it. More soon. Cheers, Stephen

Great to see alternative subjects like this Stephen, kudos. The sculpting is coming along nicely but if you're working on recreating the photo shouldn't he be a little more smiley?:)

    Colin, thanks much dude.

Steve, I appreciate it. Will definitely be different.

Thanks Carlos. I cannot take credit for the original head. I think it's an old John Rosengrant sculpt.

    Bobby, thanks sir.

David, much appreciated. I agree. Will be cool to see Pete paint this one up.

    Appreciate it Carl.

Thanks a lot Steve! I'm looking forward to rhe painting as well :)

It's definitely different, Mirofsoft, but that's why I like creating this one ;)

Thanks Marc. Appreciate the kind words.

Einion, thanks sir. I should say that I'm only loosely basing it on the picture. I wanted the general feel of this one as he has the prayer shawl and all the necklaces, but I wanted to make somewhat of an amalgam of different Sadhu characters I've seen whilst researching this one.

Just a bit more progress on this guy. Next up are the longer dreadlocks and more bulking up of the beard. I found some new pics of a Sadhu with a wicked cool dreadlocked beard which I think would give this guy more character. More soon. Cheers, Stephen

You ain't kidding, Steve. Though I don't know how well a pot-smoking Hindu shaman would sell ;)
