    Hi guys

This is my first attempt at sculpting ,well more of a hairdo ,and dressing this guy.

I used the Elgreco manikin bust from matt Greoch, and lashings of greenstuff mixed with
    Magic sculpt.

He is French Foreign legion Algeria 1832-35
The shako is the floppy type in red felt and the coat is the typical light blue almost like WW1 in colour
    but more blue grey.

Still got the buttons to add and sand off the rough edges.

    Ron

    Thanks Christos

Watching what you have done over the last couple of days inspired me to have a go.

I have a lot to learn ,I started this from the shako and worked my way down ,by the time I got to the bottom my putty mix
was 100%better than the first day and a lot smoother ,also need to learn how to add additional bulk to the folds yet and not sure how to make buttons.

I have added a rolled up piece of cloth aka like you used to do with a wet towel when you wanted to skelp someone accross the ass in the dressing room," Boys will be boys" :D My thinking here is that these guys were always short on equipment and he has done this to support a water bottle
    or knapsack .

Nicely done, Ron! This is really your first time out? Well done indeed. My most successful scuplts are still just loaves of bread in 54mm :D

    Prost!

Tell you what Ron that's not half bad. My only comment is a bit less 'distressing' on the belt perhaps.(y)

I am a bit tickled with it !! although I would have done things a bit different already ,a bit impatient waiting for the putty just getting to the right
    workability ,but lesson learned:)

Hello Ron, Great work on your first sculpt. I really like the addictions to the face. Try melting one end of a plastic dowel in the size or perhaps, one size smaller, of the button your trying to make. Don't hold to close to the flame and just spin it. This makes half globe shaped buttons. Or you could use plastic rivet heads you find in armor accessories for super detailing. They come in all shapes and sizes. Hope this helps you. Regards, SG;)(y)
