    Hello All
FINALLY finished this diorama! I did the main painting before christmas, I believe, then completely frigged up the ground work... so I put it aside. Last night I finished off the last of it.... redid the ground work, did some final touches on the figs and the horse tack.

For your consideration, it's a 54mm diorama from Andrea of a clash between a French Cuirassier and a German Hussar during Ney's cavalry charge on the Allied squares late in the afternoon of Waterloo. All paint is Vallajo acrylics, the base is a home made oak piece covered in Apoxie Sculpt with individually applied, scale grass to represent the edge of a rye field.

As usual my pics are crap. I may try them again later with a different lighting set up:sorry: Some of the colours really washed out in these pics.

Thanx for looking in... all comments and critiques are always welcome.

    Colin

Colin, that turned out terrific! I think the composition is really well done; it very well reflects the one guy being cornered by the charge. Groundwork looks great as well. Congratulations on finishing this!

I remember when you start working on the ground of this scene . Finally this great work is finished. I love it Colin, I think you have made a very good work in all senses, composition, the election of the figures, the environment and the painting work.

    Hi Colin,
A very dramatic and animated composition, the look of fear on the Cuirassier's horse is great, well done. Your base is a real winner and the painting looks spot on.
    cheers

No matter how much the colors washed out, I just enjoy the look of the whole scene.
It's very creative and highly executed.

Thanx Debrito... The long grass came from a model train store. I originally tried the yellow grass but was show a photo of a Belgian field in June/July so I started over with the green grass. The grass comes in a bag of individual strands about 8cm long which you cut to length and apply in very small bunches.... very slow and painful:yuck:

Thanks very much Chris... the figures are from Andrea, a set called "The Skirmmish". Andrea has a couple of very cool dioramas depicting different events during Waterloo. The figs are very nice to work with and I found no fit or casting issues.
I did some progress postings as I worked on this... You'll find them on my vBench. The base is the same except for the grass being redone
