Hi guys here's my first WIP on PF, the Alpine Wittmann & Woll paired with the Darius Miniatures Tiger I wedgie.

I have made a few mods to the Tiger to make it a late version.

    Zimmerit coating using Magic Sculpt

Extra weld seam on top plate and raising up the front plate with plasticard, also changed the hatch to a Dragon one.

Late wheels left over from a Dragon kit

Brass Fenders, rods and tool with Griffon clamp

    _DSC2859.JPG
Plus some leftover Fruil tracks (luckily I had excactly the right amount)
    _DSC2847.JPG
The assembled figures, sculpted and cast to Alpines usual high standards

So far I've managed to progress the wedgie to it's basic tri-tonal camo stage using Testors enamels

Faces painted using Jo-Sonja acrylics, my first real use of these paints. Have to say that I'm loving them so far.

    Nice work so far!

I think Wittmann had blue eyes...
Also don't be afraid to add a little cigarette on Wittmann's right hand. ;)

Looking forward to seeing it finished.

Yeah it'll be finished, just working on it now, giving myself a headache painting Wittmann's shoulder boards, I thinks my eyes might fall out. Will get some better pics uploaded soon....ish. I did the camo in Jo Sonja, my first time using these for a pea dot so it was a bit of an experiment in colour mixing, glad you like it.

    Hi Hideyoshi

    Great progress so far.
My guess is you let the use of LAH in France in 1944?
As Baltasar Woll was even already commander of a Tiger - No. 212
Wittmann, however his company commander 2./SS-Panzerabteilung 101 - his Tiger had the number 205!

    Cheers

    Hi Alex!
You followed Teasung´s advice and changed MW face, well done!
    Also like the cigar.;)
About Witmann´s Tiger, he was KIA in 007. Tiger 205 was is tank before taking command os the Panzerabteilung 101 LAH, following the injuries of the former commander Heinz von Westernhagen.

I thought it was good advice Pedro;) I am always a little cautious of painting eyes a colour in 1/35th scale, I think they can sometimes look too bright if you try and make the colour noticable.

As far as the Tiger goes I wanted to place them sometime around Villiers Bocage and prior to Wittmann's death in the 007 Tiger. I know Wittmann was allocated 205 as company commander and Woll was commander of 212. I know there is plenty of debate on the internet about the whole Villiers Bocage thing and what Tiger he was actually in and whether Wittmann used Woll as his gunner because Woll's Tiger 212 broke down:unsure: . The whole issue has turned into a bit of a bun-fight on some forums:wtf: so for me I'm happy to have the pair stood next to Woll's Tiger, whether it be broken down, working, before or after Wittmann took out the British 7th Armoured Divisions spearhead. I have also done Cyber Hobby's "Wittmann's Last Tiger" with the D-Toys figure positioned in the Cuppola. To be honest I got bored searching for absolute historical accuracy for both pieces and just wanted to get on a paint them.

    Hi Pedro

I'm afraid you're wrong you, the 3rd digit number to your tigers the LAH was only with the establishment of the first SS Panzer Abteilung 101 beginning in 1944 in France!
In Russia they were still called 13th (s) / SS Pz. Reg .1 LSSAH.
Since all of the armored regiment had the name S and the corresponding number.
Wittmann had the second S21 as a platoon leader Train.

My source is: Michael Wittman and the Tigers of the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler by Patrick Agte

    Cheers

Thanks Carlos:) I am not a fan of the blue trousers and shirt on the boxart, I think they are way too bright and to my mind conjure up thoughts of a Russian Tankers uniform. Again though, as I have found when researching Wittmann there is much debate over the colour of this uniform. I believe Taesung has intended them to be flak overalls/2 piece set lightweight HBT. In the wade Krawczyk book: Army Panzer Uniforms Europa Militaria No 13, there are a couple of images of black Panzer uniforms that have faded to blue which could possibly account for this choice of blue. Either way for me they had to be black, same as Wolls shirt had to be black, I just prefer the look.

Hello Alex, Excellent work on your wedgie and Wittmann & Woll figures thus far. I also like the way you have made your own color choices with the uniforms. I have seen wartime photos of Woll wearing the black shirt under his camo panzer jacket. Looking forward to seeing this one when finished. Regards, SG(y)
