Hello folks , looking at a reference table to make sure i had the right paintlines i realized i made the mistake on the name of the regiment i was going to paint before.
In 1791 all regiments wore re-arrenged and uniforms were assigned numbers .
So they had some regiments with vertical pockets and some with horizontal pockets.
So i decided to paint this Sergeant on the original paint scheme and since the figure has horizontal pockets i renamed D'Orleans to be historically correct.
I laid the base colors for the face ,coat ,vest, pants and lapels.
It's been awhile since i paint sky blue ( my favorite color since childhood) so it's going to be a fun project.
On my final post i will have all the mixes, lights and shadows.
    Cheers IMG-20120830-00592.jpg IMG-20120830-00591.jpg IMG-20120830-00590.jpg french%20officer%201791.jpg

Marquis, I appreciate both the subject matter of your posts, as well as the effort you put into sharing them with us. On this figure, however, there appears to be a seam line that runs down the figure's left thigh. Maybe it's just the larger images, or maybe it's just me, but I'd hate to see you continue with the painting of this conversion without addressing this apparent casting flaw. Hopefully, you have already addressed this, and future pics will show I was concerned over nothing. In any event, I applaud your continuing efforts to bring to life the pre-Napoleonic French Army uniforms! Best regards, Don

Don, looking at the pics again you were absolutely right , maybe in my rush on seeing some basecoat on this fig i overlooked this side of the leg. Sometimes is really hard to tell the figure's imperfection when there is no paint on it and i agree with you on that. I saw your post this morning and went right on it with the clean up, it took only 10' to fix it, some alcohol to strip out the paint ,file the seam, clean up again and prime with a brush on metal primer.
I really apreciate your critique, comment and imput Don , this is a learning process and always room for improving , in any case , i am happy that you point it out and thanks for passing by. (y)
