    Hello folks,
Here's my next project , a conversion from Art Girona 70mm 1791 Carabinier to a 1779 Chasseur Volontaire de Saint Domingue (Modern day Haiti).
I using my guideline on painting this Chasseur based on the Osprey picture you see on this thread.
I decided to paint this Chasseur to honor those Black troops that serve under the French king .

This was the first unit of full-time serving free black troops to be sent into action in the annals of the French forces. The siege of Savvannah was a failure, but the black troops earned distinction by successfully covering the re-embarkation of the French army. Part of the corps was disbanded, but a detachment of 148 men arrived on the island of Grenada on December 1, 1779 and was reported still there in August 1782. A 20-man detacment is also reported serving as marines on board Le Citoyen during 1780 (taken from Osprey The french Army in the American War of Independence).
The body of the figure will have to be slightly modify just on the turnbacks,i will have to get rid of the grenades and place hunting horns instead.
As for the legs i will have to "shave" the tassel on his short gaiters and build up a above knee gaiters.
As for the original head i gort rid of it and replaced by one of JMD set of heads andusing a Tricorne hat built from scratch.
    Hope you folks like it.

    Looks interesting.
Will this be part of the diorama or a one off figure?

    Will follow

Not really, this is a 70mm and actually very close in size to the ones i have but since this unit participated in the Siege of Savannah ,so wouldn't be included in the Yorktown vignette.
I have been itchy to paint this uniform scheme, for some reason i think it will look interesting.
I just happened to buy a lot of 12 citadel paints, few of them out of production and came with a blue almost dead on of the one that is painted on the Osprey illustration of the Chasseur.
