Vallejo Flesh Paints Quick Question

Discussion in 'Painting Techniques' started by PaultheMilitaryModeller, Aug 10, 2012.

  1. Hi

I have the Vallejo Flesh Paint set and have noticed something not quite right.

To make paint selection easier I have been making a Hand Painted Colour Chart Using all my Vallejo Paints, I must have 90% of the full range, so its taking me quite some time to get through them all. Anyway I got to the Flesh section and noticed something not quite right, They do a threesome labelled Light Flesh, Medium Flesh and Dark Flesh, the odd thing is now the colour patches have all dried the one labelled Medium Flesh is quite a bit darker than the one labelled Dark flesh, did they have a quality control issue and get the labels switched or is Medium Flesh Darker than Dark flesh for everyone.

Thanks for any input on this.

Darker for me too. They do have slight different hues as well.

Definitely darker and I always wondered about that.

Me too... I think they arent different tones of the same colour but based on entirely different mixes... one based on a yellow scheme and one based on a more red scheme... I think

    Cheers

Yep, me too. I have switched to Reaper paints - I like their triad concept.

If your undercoating your figures with grey primer, your colour charts on white paper will be way off...

Try a swatch of all three on top the Dark Flesh colour - better still test them on a piece of scrap material sprayed with grey primer.
