Ok here is todays update, chaperone is almost finished.

Adding the liripipe. This area will still need some smoothing as it is very thin, and trends to distort a little too much if you mess with it at this stage.

Finished his belt today and now just need to finnish his pouch, and add a dagger to his belt.

I really wanted to see him all together. So I sticky tacked him together. The dager is a place holder for one the same size and the pouch needs a little more work but this is more or less what he will look like.

This is really nice and great to see something different for a change

Thank you he is still a little rough around the edges but he is almost there. This has been fun for me to work on.

Last few pieces coming together. Bollock dagger is almost finished it will need a little fine sanding here and there to smooth things out. When that is finished it is on to taking it apart for molding. Also smoothed out the scarf part of the hat.

Wow just noticed how rough the butt end of the staff looked when I posted that photo. I just took the time to trim and sand that area. Thats better. Taking photos has really helped me to see flaws.

I plan to produce it. I will need to take off his arms at the shoulders and fill the area between the part of the cloak that falls around his right leg. I will need to remove the part of the cloak in the back I will also be removing the scarf like part at the top of the shoulder. So it will be a few days of cutting and figuring out how to key it all back together. I have been thinking about this for some time. I have a plan. Hopefully it works. LOL

Don't panic it just refers to the hilt which looks like a pair of bollocks. If you want use the Victorian term kidney dagger. ;-)

Yea what he said. It was a very common dagger that lasted well in to the 16th century. Off the top of my head I am not sure when they made their first appearance in medieval times. I think sometime in the 13th century. Some say the Scottish dirk evolved form the bullock dagger. Both styles of knife served the same function. They seem to have originally been worn on the front of the belt by knights. Who used them as a boast just as the look suggests. Over time they became one of the most common forms of utility knife, and were worn by all classes of people. 15th century illustrations and paintings show them worn on the side of the belt or behind kidney pouches like any other common dagger. A large number were found on the MaryRose. Many times they included a small eating knife and pricker( Which was just a sharpened spike with a handle used for stabbing and holding food like a fork) that were set into the outsider of the scabbard. They took many forms over time. They could be crudely made or made of the finest of materials.

That went much quicker then I expected. Still need to make keys so the parts go back together easily, but that was fast. I guess all that thought I put in to this payed off.
