Hi Everyone,

I haven't posted anything for some time as I was getting prepared for my most ambitious and largest project to date. After moving house I managed to find an old "ladybird" book about british history, which I used in primary school...I must have been 6 or 7 years old.

Browsing through it I saw a painting of the battle of Agincourt and it brought back alot of fun childhood memories. So I decided to "honour" my favourite era and battle by making a scene from Agincourt.

I promise to get proper pictures with a decent camera for the finished thing. Anyway thank for listening...I will try to update as often as possible but I estimet this will take me some time to finish.

I have a couple of kits 3 pegaso, 1 Soldiers and 2 Crecy Models. Let the fun begin.....

Huge undertaking!!! Should be exciting, I love a good old battle diorama.
Look forward to the progress on this one.

Thanks for the comments and encouragement, the whole thing could work out to about 15-18 figures (plus a dead horse). Haven't quite fugured out the logistics of the scene yet, but I am having alot of fun planning and researching the battle.

Good Luck with this one. I painted the Pegaso combined kit about a year ago. Huge undertaking but in the end it will be worth it.

That's a great project you have in mind.
Hopefully we see some pictures soon of the proces.

Great project and era for battlescene.
I have the osprey books of Agincourt , which i think is a good source to start,not the only one but good source of pics and terrain ideas too.

It is a great book, I have managed to find several about Agincourt and the 100 years war. It's a lot of fun deciding on what colours and pattern to pain the French and British knights.....it is not easy though.

I know, i red the book and few others few years ago when i was in a "medieval" mood and got intrigued by this period, especially the French knights and their heraldry.
Amazing that almost half of the french nobility lost their lives at Agincourt.
Keep at it and you know you have a big tedious project ahead, it will be days you will ask yourself if you should do a rather smaller scale project, believe me, i am working on 4 12x12 separate bases with at least 12 60mm figures each , so i understand what you going through .

I even watched the movie Henry V with Kenneth Branagh...to be honest I prefer reading the books. I totally agree with you about the big projects being tedious, so I try to make small fun figures in between. I just finished a little "Hell Boy" figure, which was very different from the armour and heraldry. I find that this method keeps me interested in the big projects, and if I do get bored a quick break with a very different figure motivates me. I just wish I had more time to paint...work work work takes up most of my time.

When in 1415 Sir Peers Legh was wounded in the Battle of Agincourt, his Mastiff stood over and protected him for many hours through the battle. The Mastiff was later returned to Legh's home and was the foundation of the Lyme Hall Mastiffs

Well its been almost 2 months and progress has been slow, but I am getting there. Only 2 more French Knights left !!! And then I can start on the English - yeah !!!!!

Pics are not that good, but I aint getting the big camera out until I finish the whole thing. I won't be weathering the figures until they are sent in the diorama, so they look pretty clean at the moment.

Looking pretty good so far only minor niggle is (and it might be camera angle) the arrow looks a bit too big length and thickness wise

Your probably right about the length - especially for the one stuck in the shield. I may fix it later on, not in the mood to fiddle with it at this stage. the thickness also created problems for me. Research brought up various arrow lengths and thicknesses, but for practical reasons, this is the smallest thickness I could use to make the arrows.

Try using florists wire it's fairly stiff and comes in various thickness, but I know what you mean about not fiddlin. Only snag is I find after it's finished and I can't get at it it bugs the crap outta me that I didn't fix it
