Hi all,

This is a little bit break project for me, I have been working on several WW2 Germans so I want to being away from that theme for a while.

This is a beautiful small bust, 1/12 (150mm) scale, produced by Jaguar Models Inc, and you may all know this is masterfully sculpted by well-known sculptor, Mr.Mike Good.


And here's my rendering.


I've already finished painting this bust but I didn't have any references for painting cossack uniform of this kind so I painted it by just my imagination. If someone have the reference images or URL, please post it here.

Yes I paint any genre, as long as the sculpting fits for me.

Sorry I found a typo in the title. It's "Cossack", not "Cossak".

Very nice painting Kazufumi! I just bought this bust and am looking forward to starting it, it's a great sculpt by Mike Good. I think it's a Zaporozhian cossack. Here's a similar painting..

Nice to see this moldy-oldy again. I always liked this bust but it seems that few others did because it did not sell well. Kaz, do not worry about the "uniform". He is not wearing one! He is wearing his everyday clothing. The bust was inspired by a painting in one of my books as shown by Edward's post above. It was more about the character than about what he was wearing. By the way, there is a chip missing from the cuff of his shirt that is not supposed to be there.

That's a shame I think this is the best cossack bust I've ever seen.

I'm glad to know this info. I thought there's a uniform of this kind so I've been searching for one but nothing similar found.
And yes, the character is what I really fell in love with. Face, eyebrow, mustache, pose, and hair.

Ooops, I didn't know that I thought it is just a design that he's wearing an old cloth.

First of all: Very good painted, congrets!

And yes, it is a Zaporoshian Cossack from the 17. century period! At this time, cossacks wore no uniforms, but all the clothes they liked. "Uniformly" was only their haircut: A bald clipped skull with a parting lock and a very mighty moustache.

The photo loaded up by Edward should be a portrait of the famous Ataman of the Zaporoshian Cossacks, Iwan Sirko, who lived from 1610 zo 1680.

Today we know, Sirko looked quite different, for his grave was founded and his face could be restored by russian scientists in 1965.

This "real" Iwan Sirko will be the next projekt I will show here.

I bought this from a guy at eBay, I think he is a planetFigure member "Sambaman". (Of course it was in original box, not a chinese recast.)

I strongly recommend to own this bust, not only sculpting quality but also the size, 1/12 (150mm).
I think this is good size to start painting bust for painter who always paints smaller scales.
