This is looking great already V jealous of how fast you work. If you don't mind me asking how did you do the straps on the gaiters as I've been stumbling around adding some to a sculpt I'm doing and have hit a wall.

    Thanks Lew J.

    Hi Lew

Thanks for your interest and comments.

The straps were done from scrap photo etch brass after creating a fine buckle from thin BT wire and then stuck in to the soft putty. It's quite easy to do just need a little practice.

    Cheers

Hi Dave, great progress mate. Looking forward to the start of the 109 and, at this rate, that won't be long. LoL

    Cheers

Hi Ron, great to hear from you buddy and thanks for dropping in. I have just got to sculpt the life jacket, flight helmet and then have a good tidy up of all the sculpt. This has taken around 20 hours so far so not bad and considering there is no building work it will be much quicker. I can't wait to get all the detail on the 109, should be great fun and a good learn.

    Cheers
    Dave

    Hi All

I'm about 90% on the conversion now, just need to tidy up some more creases around the back and add the pipe and tap to the jacket once I have built them and on to the flight helmet next!!!

Ok, nearly done with the conversion now and I decided to use the spare head from the Alpine Kurt Meyer to give a better impression of pain lol. The flight helmet like everything else is sculpted from magicsculpt:-

That new head really gives the look of pure torture for the airman. You're doing an amazing job!

They both look superb, loving the character in the pilots face. Did you use MS for the newly sculpted areas, was curious as I find it difficult to get it thin enough for straps and what not (it sticks like shit to a blanket when I roll it thin)?

    Thanks Lew J.

Lew J, have you tried using talc powder on your tools and work surface when rolling the putty thin?

Now that's bloody good work. Good enough to be a commercial release in my personal opinion. This is fast shaping up to be another winner mate.

    Regards

Thanks to you all for your very kind comments.

I could not release it as the heads and the underlying sculpt is the work of Alpine and Andy Cairns, but yes as I get better practice I could sculpt my own in the future.

Lew, I do not use talcum powder, just water and the trick for nice traps is to let the sculpt go almost off but still pliable, and then you can bend it but still mold it in to the existing sculpt.

    Thanks again everyone

Now managed to get the model apart which was a right royal pain in the a***e!

I resorted to hacksaw in the end because it was so well joined but I have managed to release all the componenets for the super detailing!

The last two pics gives you n idea of scale, lots to do and will post up as and when I amend

Richie Les and Peter, thank you for your comments and interest.

I have begun work on the 109, starting at the front adding a bit more detail. This involved some nticeable amendments but also a fair bit of dremel work. First off the spinner back plate was to small so I added .5mm to this and also a abit of detail to the prop shaft as you can just make it out from the top down view.
    Everything else is ( I hope) self-explanatory:-

Right I have started the intricate work on the engine and so far so good. There are lots of smaller cables, hoses, taps etc to do yet but the basics are done:-
