Excellent work all round. in particular I'm very impressed by the flesh tones (the sinewy hands and forearms look very realistic) and the treatment of the black leather equipment... showing the wear along the edges. It would be great if you could give a hint at how you accomplished this effect on the leather.

hello Colin. For the leather effect I first hi-lite by mixing black with sunny skintone for my first hi-lite. For my second hi-lite I mix in a little more sunny skintone to get a slightly lighter shade than the first. After the second hi-lite is completed I use leather brown and I apply that to the edges of the straps and belts (places in which leather would typically wear). My next step is to apply a slightly watered down mix of tan yellow again on the edges of the straps and belts but still letting some of the brown show, this is what gives the optical illusion of worn black leather. I actually use the same process to complete the jackboots as well. For brown leather I hi-lite with a mix of leather brown and tan yellow to get a couple of hi-lites (similar to the process I use for black leather). I then go straight to the tan yellow and edge the belts and straps with that. I also use a very small touch of tan yellow on the inside edge of strap and belt adjustment holes where buckles are present. My final step is to apply a couple of layers of clear satin finish to give the leather a slight sheen just like the real thing. I hope this helps you.

From the pics it seems you painted seams along the shoulders and sleeves but as far as I know german smocks were done from a unique piece of cloth with seams under the sleeves and sides,and lower part of sleeves added...but I may be wrong...
