That is superb, love the way you have handled his flesh tones and his whites. The only thing that I'm not sure about is his thumb nail, it looks too dark. Only a minor thing on an outstanding bust

Seen it in the raw Brian but this is the first one I've seen painted and you've more than done justice to this superb bust.
    Great job.
    Cheers

That's rather brilliant paintwork Brian, very neat! Like your effect with the buttons.

My only comment concerns the nail of the thumb... I think the greyish tone and strong black outlining look a bit strange, like he's hit his thumb with a hammer during DIY activities... then again, maybe he did..!?

    Great work nevertheless.

    Cheers,
    Adrian

Hi eduardo, before i attempted the painting of the eyes i looked thru quite a lot of photo's of paintings with some appearing to be blue and some looked grey and even brown,i searched on the web and found some of the napoleonic sites also made them blue or brown, historians say that first hand accounts had napoleon's eyes as blue-grey and wikepedia said they were brown,i think the argument will roll on for many years,i chose the brown option and i'll have to leave it like that now its finished.
Thanks for taking the time to add the attachments,i will bear this in mind when i paint him again,an interesting topic of conversation i think (y)

    Hi Brian
Sorry to come in so late on this one as I have been in Rome for Four days.

The bust looks fantastic nice change to see the Grenadier uniform in use ,I believe he kept this one for Sundays,
I am just about to order the bust as I seen it at Dave's the other week.
The copy of the painting I have of Nap at fontainebleau by Hippolyte shows the eyes to be greenish brown,I have a poster of a painting of a very young Nap which I bought in Ajaccio the eyes also look to be greenish to grey, so who knows :)

Hi Ron,hope you had a good holiday, many thanks for the kind coments (y),the subject of eyes has done my head in ,i have so many books ron on napoleon, some with excellent pictures of portraits and they all look different,i even went on wickepedia last night and they have them as brown, some historians make them blue-grey,like you say who knows,he was born 243yrs ago so who can say what colour they were.
Youv'e made a good choice to buy it anyway (y),got mine from matt at El Greco.

Went on the El Greco website the other night and had a browse through the customer gallery and i saw your Lin Chong,i like the nameplate you have chosen for the base, very nice (y)

    Cheers Ron (y)
