Here he is...I tried to improve the highlights as suggested. Tried a new matte sealer but was shocked at the resulting shine, so will fix that. The shield was much tougher than I thought, but I'm getting the hang of it. Overall, I'm very happy and really enjoyed this one. Critiques always welcome:) and I hope you like him.
    cheers, Mary
ps, didn't have any 'grass' so chopped a hunk off my coyote hide that I use to tie my fishing flies:ROFLMAO:

More highlights on the red would help. I would suggest using Testors dullcoat as it looks as if you used oils for the cape. When I painted with oils, dullcoat really helped cut the sheen. Its pretty good overall though I would add some washes to the metals to dull and darken them up some. WOuld help add some definiation to them. Nice work though

Nice work Mary. :) I like it.
Are you so kind to give some details on how you did the blood? (colours used and technique)

Very nice work Mary! The over all tone is even and earthy befitting a battle field, well done. (y)

Great idea on the grass, resourcefulness is one of our very best tools!

    Hi Zeno
I have napa red, alizarin crimson and I mixed them, then added a bit of burnt umber; I just played until I got a color I liked. I let the diluted paint run and dabbed it with my finger to smear a little. Red is the toughest color for me by far, so I experiment a lot. Blood is tough to make it look realistic so I painted on a piece of white paper first.

Excellent Mary. I'm glad you chose to show some blood on his gladius. It looks very realistic.

    Great paintwork.
Testor Dullcoat (very difficult to get it here in the Netherlands) will do some amazing job on the sheene.

Coming on Mary a few washes in those metals would be a leap forward, the shield is well worn and looks good.
