    Hi All,

    I had the pleasure of participating in SMF's painting workshop in NL with Fernando Ruiz and here's the way my Atilla looks after a bit of additional homework. It was very educational to observe Fernando's painting up close. You see lots of little details that never show in SBSs (how brushes are held, paints are thinned, wiped, etc....) and that really steepens the learning cuve. If you have a chance, DO participate in such events!

    Anyway, here's some pics of progress so far. Still lots to do, but the face, arms, trousers, armour and shirt are about done.

    Also started on the groundwork. The tree intends to add to the threatnening pose of Atilla. Well, that's the idea anyway....

    Cheers,
    Adrian

    Excellent job so far. I completely agree about being there in a workshop. You pick up things that no book can show you. In the case of Fernando Ruiz, I was fortunate to partake of his workshop in St. Louis and learned more in that time than ten+ years of reading books. I just can't get past the part of using your mouth to refresh your paintbrush:D;)

    @Gordy: Thanks! The veins are partly sculpted, which made it quite easy o accentuate them.

    @David: Thank you sir!

    @Pedro: Thanks buddy. Glad you see improvement!

    @Carl: Thanks Carl! Fernando made us experiment with texture and I am glad it works with the cape.

    @Mike: Thanks! I'll try and show more progress soon.

    @Stephen: Thank you sir!

    @Tom: Thanks! That was indeed a remarkable habit. This is why you don't find these things in a book, it would write up something like this: First suck a nice point to your brush, pick up some paint with it and brush it on your thumb to check consistency. Then apply it to the figure, clean it with water and your mouth. I hope those Vajellos are not too poisonous....

    @Marc: Dank je! I tried to visit your show last weekend, but couldn't make it in the end because of all sorts of chores.... I hope to get there next year.

    @Patrick: Dank voor de lovende woorden! I'll be the in October I hope. This one goes pretty fast for me, so it should be done in time!

    @Jan Willem: Ook zeer bedankt voor je lof! I look forward to your Atilla.

    Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment guys.

    Cheers,
    Adrian
