Hi all
A few little touchups left, but here's my effort for Andrea's War Lord. He's painted in acrylics with oil and ink.
I got a set of Stormtroopers printers inks from Stuart and they are fantastic; he offers many different colours such as old gold, old silver, bronze, copper and brass.
I experimented on this figure, using gold ink highlights on the leather 'apron' and also mixed a touch of brass ink with burnt sienna oil for a final wash to see the effect. In real life it turned out beautifully, please don't use my photos (or amateur painting ) to judge the inks! I also didn't need a special carrier with them, just thinned them with oil solvent and they dry in a few hours.

Thanks Carl; I try to shoot in natural light and am still working on a studio setup. I despair of ever getting beautiful shots like most PFers, even though I have the lights, the results look like hell.

Hi Mary. You have done a great job with this little figure. It is not an easy piece to paint I know. It is great to see how you are improving on each one I see. Keep it up. Dont worry about the photos. We all have the same problem with this.

Well done Mary, I think it's your best up to date. You have to work on the pictures. These here are underexposed quite a bit. In this case what you can do is either correct it in picture editing software like gimp or photoshop or improve it during taking a photograph. You said you are using a natural light. I am guessing the only source of light is the window. Try to bring the subject little closer to the window, but not to close. Use white cardboards to reflect the light from the window to light the figure in places where the sun does not get to. Make sure you are using proper settings in your camera. Experiment with lower aperture numbers and longer exposure times. Use tripod or set camera on sturdy books to avoid any movement when releasing shutter.
