    Hi guys,

Here are the first pics of my latest project, one that I've been saving and looking forward to since I bought it at Euro in 2009.

Sculpted by the brilliant Keith Durham, this figure depicts the Scottish King Macbeth in the year 1057 in full battle mode. The last photo is the box art pic to show you all what the finished figure can look like.

Thanks to Keith and Glenn Hamilton, I've chosen to follow their advice and go for a very subdued earthy colour palette. Rather than paint a tartan pattern, which would be wrong in so many ways I won't bother explaining, I'll try to do a Celtic plaid for the cloak.:D

If anyone has some suggestions or wants to post some pics that might inspire the pattern, please feel free to do so; I'd welcome the help.

I've started with the face in Vallejo acrylics and will apply oil washes over acylics as I progress.

Thank you for looking and please feel free to share your comments.(y)

The start is perfect, specially the facecolor.

Really good start Tony.Love the helmet.Only thing i would suggest is to show more whites of his eyes as they look a bit large and try getting a paler colour right in the middle of the black pupil. An old Bill Horan tip.
Look forward to seeing him progress.

Keith Durham done some nice stuff that one I bought many moons ago but don't remember a shield coming with it.
The Conquistador he done around the same time was fantastic I also have an English pike man he done around that time too, might redo that one.

    Look forward to the finish.(y)

    Hi Tony,

Look forward to watching him come to life! Thought you might find the attached inspiring - Angus based this painting on Brian Stewart's rendition of MACBETH, which was featured in Military Modelling. The painting was a gift on my 40th birthday.

    All the Best,

    Keith.

Thank you everyone for your gracious comments and generous encouragement. Thanks in particular to Keith for dropping in on my humble thread to provide more support and help in addition to his help through PM's.

I'm still laying in the colours and haven't as yet chosen a colour for the cloak, but it will almost certainly be a blue/ green combination of some sort.

I've done a bit more on the eyes and face, however the nose guard on the helmet didn't survive being trimmed and will need to be replaced.

Blast from the past! Nice to see a version of this after so many years.

Yours looks like it's cast better than the one I did, lucky sod!

Bit late at this stage but I would have suggested texturing the cloak a bit. Oh yeah, and adding the bottom corners to it - if I remember correctly both are sort of rounded? I don't recall what the right one looks like but the left one (his left) is obvious in the first pic.

    Hi guys,

Here are the latest WIP pics. I've chosen a simple green colour for the cloak, rather than a more complex plaid pattern. I've just started shading and highlighting, and there's still a long way to go.

Bit by bit, it's starting to come together.

Still much to do, but I feel I'm on the right track.
