Just finished this bust and as you'll notice there's 2 pictures. The first being posed with lighting and background effects the other being taken with natural light on my living room table. The second one being close to what he would look like in the flesh ,but without the wet and dry paper as a background. Now you know why i dislike photography.
I've tried to portray him with a pale greyish face.

Very good Brian, he looks very tired. The red around the eyes is well done and the overall tones are impressive.

    Well done mate(y)

Very nice Brian. You have captured the look perfectly. I understand your frustration with photography. I shoot in front of a number of different color backgrounds before deciding which to use for the very same reason. Everything effects how the camera sees your work.

Looks really good Brian, you got the subdued brown tones right down to a tee,
bit of a trade mark Im beginning to think ;)
Face is superb and he looks war weary.

Both pics look good and don't see over enhancement on the first one. (y)(y)(y)

Hi Brian, good work & again nice to see another of your completed works.
Point on the photography, know what you mean but in this case the one with the background simply provides a focus for the bust where as the 'natural light' has all sorts of distraction to the eye. I LIKE the 'crafted' photo.

As a personal PF viewer, I'm unlikely to ever see this in the flesh & you've helped me appreciate the quality of painting, your approach & this bust in another light. You got to be happy with that mate ;-)

Thanks for taking the time to share,

    Mike

Can't help with photography, but you have really nailed the worn/weary look I hope to achieve on my next bust (also WWI)
