Well guys, I was a little hesitant to post this, but while learning acrylics I think he turned out all right.
You'll notice the right spindle doesn't meet the ship's wheel; it didn't quite fit in the kit and I'm not skilled enough yet to make a tiny joining part:notworthy: The gap looks much bigger in the photos.
I learned a lot painting this one.
Comments and tips are always welcomed!

I really like the wood grain effect on the wheel, and the face is good too.
Keep improving with each figure Mary, and don't be afraid to ask for help if you can't make a piece fit, we've all been there(y)

    Very nice work Mary.
Next one will be again better.
The learning proces is not a one day offer.

I agree. Me too I like the wood, but the handle of the rudder, which holds the right hand is loose.

    Hi Mary
As has been said, the wood on the wheel looks good and also the deck and tackle block.
RE the bad fit or non fit with the spindle, did you do a dry run on the thing to start with, and make sure everything goes together before painting. If you see an obvious fault take a step back have a coffee or in my case wee whisky and get your head around the problem :) you will generally find a way to make it work.

Keep up the good work there is improvement already (y)

Looking good Mary, vey nice effect on the wood and the figure is not bad either, each one that you paint is all part of the learning curve, keep it going and well done (y)

Ron, maybe the 'hot toddy' was the reason I missed the gap...:cautious:
It seemed to fit in the dry run so I'm not sure what happened. I was shocked after I had it all painted and it didn't fit right.
thanks to all for your encouragement, I really am enjoying the hobby and my Planeteer friends.

A very nice treatment of a difficult subject in which wood, for once, is the main focus and presents many lighting challenges that you have addressed. Have you seen the short article on this figure by Julio Cabos in Figure International #37? You might be ready to go onto the next project by now, but if you would like to see it and don't have the magazine, try calling Ashley at 361-344-1625, the Andrea depot site. Again, nice job, and the problem with the spoke seems to be a casting problem; Cabos mentions it, too.
