Hi All,

This is my second completed figure. It is a JSM 120mm figure of German Infantryman, 4th Bavarian Inf Reg't, Western Front, Spring 1915. It is painted in Vallejo acrylics with some citadel washes and Tamiya chalks for depth/highlights.

The only thing I had real issues with was trying to get the sheen from the Vallejo paints toned down. I tried a number of different matt varnishes but this was the best I could do.

Many thanks to Andrew Judson (Specmod) for his help and advice regarding the face (many hours and lots of emails/home visits)

My avatar pic was my first (for comparison) and is due for a re-working.

Greg, you're not the only one who finds Vallejo acrylics prone to shininess. Most users have the same trouble.

May I suggest you try spraying Dullcote or Testors Lusterless Clear on your figures when the paint is dry. You might also consider buying Vallejo's Matt Clear Finish which you can mix into the paint before you apply it. I'm using it now and it seems to do the job.

Another thing you can try is pastel chalk, however it needs to be sealed with a spray to stop it blowing away.

Tony and Carl - I will have a play around with the various products you suggested and see which one works the best - I have a few figures in the stash so i will use one of them as a guinea pig.
